Shame on you devs
Devs when will you apologize the players?

Dont need an apology. Dont want it. You know it takes time to even pin down what to apologize for. Want to repeat the pressure, like on blizzard? Blizzard earned it over decades and they underwhelmingly delivered on their last chance to make things right. First thing they did is stealing money from people with a buggy battlepass icon. And they already lost that battle by releasing a game with the worst itemisation I have ever seen in an arpg.
This here is different. The base game is great. I signed up to make the beta tester here. Payed money for that. Now I want them to develope a game and not apologize to some butthurt people on the interwebs, geez. Последняя редакция: kosmo_blacksmith#5449. Время: 17 апр. 2025 г., 06:45:43

The base is actually completely busted and unfixable at this point unless the entire game changes. We have PoE 1 enemies and mechanics against PoE 2 characters which are weaker, slower and need setup/combos to work. There is a reason the most popular builds are one-button ones, this league and the previous one. Because they work best in this game. No matter how hard they try to push silly things like combos

" I agree and I'm afraid that wont happen...you could make combos work - but they need to be fast (movement attack, cast and animation speed needs to go up), they need to be spammable against trash and have meaningful timing against bosses so you need to study their mechanics. Imo Lost Ark hit this balance quite nicely, you have your usual rotations against trash but against Guardian Raids you wait for the timing to counter and stun them and then do your combo. The difference in pace makes those raids then also feel more "meaningful" than the usual slaughter of trash where you can nicely turn your brain off. I'm not a diehard LA fan by any means but in terms of pure combat I think the game did a lot of things right. |

Who came up with that combo thing?
Just because you have some agency with the skills? I have never played an arpg without these combos. Actually, the most arpg made it so that the builds that did a lot of damage needed to be set up like a combo. Like dunno, break armour then leap and earthquake. Thats nothing new. Just becasue we got some jump animation, instead doing something like shadowstep, what just teleports you with an blur around your character? "combos" are the bread and butter of arpg. You use skills to make up for a lack in your build. Like sniper's mark for frenzy charges. At this point, I honestly have to ask, was it a possibility in poe1 to automate everything? Or is it just the fact, you have to play like this all the time and nothing is free? The more I read and learn about poe1, I really start asking myself, was that game not even hard, just so bloated that it was only hard to figure out how to craft a six slot? That is the difficulty people are talking about? Would be kinda dissapointed, really. |

The difference is in the gem system - most PoE 1 characters had room for only 1 strong six-link skill, meaning that most of them had to be strong on their own with decent clear. There are, of course, exceptions. The Squire shield, for example, changed the game and opened up possibilities. And combo play has been a thing - the old Vortex/Creeping Frost/Cold Snap combination. Plus curses/marks and other dmg amplifications like Plague Bearer have always been around.
PoE 2 changed the concept entirely. Since skills are not tied to gear sockets now, the developers want us to use multiple ones to clear mobs. However, they kept the mobs at the same level we currently have in PoE 1. They are fast, they swarm you, stun you all the time, shoot you from off screen, their effects are hard to see and so on. So no, the change to a more-combo based approach is not the reason the game fails. It is half-assed - if you want this to be your preferred playstyle you need to adjust the enemies accordingly. Else it would fail |

Dont kid yourself that this is a EUR only problem. Plenty of weird in US too.

" So it's a global problem, but it's better not to talk about it. |

Well, change the title to that topic, please. :)

Developers are lost in the fog of their mutually exclusive ideas.
Every player wants to be equally fast as the fastest player in the game. Diablo 2 Enigma case. BUT: - Boots with 30-35 movement speed and desired statistics are crazy expensive. - Passive tree gives movement speed points are only for dex builds. - Body armors and shields take away players speed. Crazy, crazy stupid idea from Diablo 1. - End-game design PoE2 is stupid as hell. This leads to everyone need to play fast, glass cannon, one button, clearing 2 screens hero. Otherwise, you're playing the game wrong. Which in itself is stupid. But fortunately, apart from this problem the game has other bigger problems. |
