was fun for a while

I was hoping for a much better game after playing with d4, this could've been a great game, but progress is artificially limited too much for me, not respecting my time.

No loot, no gear, no currency drops, forced to play in predetermined ways on many levels, gem/gear attribute requirements, class starting points surrounded by passive nodes predetermining how you are supposed to play etc

Game design is worrying, like spellcasters has a way to scale attack/defense/everything off mana, becoming immune to chaos damage, bleeding and poison in the process, why strength based can't scale off everything life then? Who oversees these decisions? Also why "cast on" etc can only socket spells, why I cant socket magma blast?

Then mapping, I HAVE to use tablets with quantity, I have to use maps with quantity and rarity, so most of the tablets and waystones are just junk in the tabs, reforging bases only. If its mandatory for loot, then why you have other tablets, just to take up space and waste our time?

You must play in predetermined ways otherwise get nowhere.

Game was vaguely just at the right grind level before, still on the harder side and if you played the game you got drops, you could progress gear, with investing rarity you got a div every 4-5 map, got some rare bases, was just bearable, progress happened.

Now loot and currency drops are nerfed, mapping the same way as last patch, with similar gear with 125% rarity all I get are augmentation orbs and blues. On top of it survavibility nerfed, I have to wander around with 2800K life instead of 5500K life last patch - same class, same ascendancy - in a harder dungeon with more stuns for a bunch of augmentation orbs.

But this time I can't save up currency with some hard work to buy that morior which will add 1500 to my hp, so I can finally survive, as there is no morior anymore and saving up is much harder either.

My best gaming experience was playing my first and only league in poe1, that was affliction league, if you juiced maps, if you added quantity, if you played the game, you got loot, efforts brought rewards and game was still not easy this time either.

Unfortunately that feeling is gone and doesnt look like will be back anytime soon.

p.s: just want to add that I killed arbiter T4 and other bosses, did run sekhamas and chaos for fun etc last patch with my own build (and also with the meta builds on other characters later), got mirror in poe1 etc, so I am not a total noob, not a hc gamer either, but I would invest that 3-4 weeks at every patch into a GOOD challenging game. Challenging doesnt equal to restricting loot it means add hard, rewarding content and make sure we can progress towards it. Instead of nerfing loot and all classes, you could've slightly nerfed the outsiders like spark and you could've added arbiter T10+ with mega difficulty and mega loot or a new very hard boss and instead of nerf loot get a new higher gear tier in that we can access in endgame, so we can gear up for these encounters.

All fair points.
That feeling will be back after 10 years.
It was bad before but at least with a bit of luck I could find a divine a day or something from a drop. Juicing maps was fun before.

I'm sick of killing elites on a 150% rarity map to get piles of gold.
I can barely afford to keep my maps yellow. I have to pick up all rare loot to salvage to sustain using one regal per map.

Jup. That's another huge problem that was even there before in 0.1 but by far not as bad: Creating a single T16 maps requires what 30 exalts, 10 regals, 10 vaals on average? So those maps or even juiced T15 maps need to drop some good stuff to keep maintaining that process. A 6 mod T15 map therefore needs to drop at least 3 exalts or more to feel like youre making progress. And well..it doesnt in most cases.

Another thing is its almost impossible to create T18 maps now because not only do you have to find a corruption/cleansed area, you need to get the super ultra rare monster level +1 modifier on it which I have seen exactly once in 8 corruption zones even after cleansing, then you need to hope to irradiate it with tower and then put in a T16 map which as we established costs a ton of materials. Therefore the drop on a T18 map as well as the EXP needs to be substantially better to reward you for it. And it absolutely is not....
The "build design choices" you wrote about are a major problem I have with PoE2.

In PoE1 you have so many things that can be created, it's actually insane.

You select a "Witch" because Witch best waifu. Then you ascend to "Elementalist" because best waifu is best at causing a flame in your heart - "Hits always Ignite".

But then you need some protection from all the stalkers in your maps, so you go to the gym and build up some strength to wear something heavy, and choose "Kaom's Heart" (+500 to maximum Life; 40% increased Fire Damage).

Because we are heart-themed so far, let us follow it further with more flexibility and use a bow, like Amor - the God of love.
It's not only just a bow, it's a bow that applies a fiery burst to our targets, with... well... "Fire Burst".

Like that, in PoE1, you can create basically anything you want.
You started with an INT-based class, but built INT/DEX/STR altogether.
Instead of using a soy wand, you go for a soy bow (only melee is not soy).
Instead of using normie Energy Shield as an "Elementalist", you buff your gains and stack "Life".

Oh wait, they nerfed "Kaom's Heart" and removed the "Fire Damage" from it?
What a shame.
Oh wait, they buffed "Fire Burst" after years, so it had a presence above 0%, but then nerfed it in the league after it again into the ground because ppl had fun?
What a shame.
Oh wait, am I talking about PoE1 or PoE2? Because the trend of removing fun seems to be a patter in both games - the more I think about it.

Anyone remember "Headhunter"? You won't for much longer.

Restricting "Skills" to a single "Weapon Type" is sooo "Diablo 4"-like...
Like, why I don't just play "Diablo 4"? Well, it's D4. But you get the point.
