Can't beleive i've resorted to reinstalling a different OS

I was on Windows 11..

Going to linux and using proton through steam... So many issues with the installation files on windows which were causing instability in game (massive load times etc, minutes each, most of the maps not loading tiles). All the caching was randomly in appdata roaming and the .ini was in onedrive/document instead of just my local documents... I certainly never told them to go there.. Just got progressively worse day by day.

Downloading 90GB again, here we go...

I've had a completely flawless experience playing on EndeavourOS, I recommend it.
Update time!

It's so amazingly better its unreal. my multi minute load times are now a few seconds. No missing blocks of terrain. Performance on the whole ins't a good on the top end as windows was (when it was stable that is) but that makes sense, the nvidia driver is more dated. and the DLSS is straight up worse. But... 4 second load times instead of 2-3 minutes, more consistent performance and no missing terrain and enemy textures (i mean they weren't even fking appearing sometimes) is a taker imo.

The other annoying thing is that vulkan was being a bit of a dick. had to change to direct x12 and had to change it in the config file (might be why the top end performance isn't a good tbh, i was getting more on vulkan before)

8/10 experience
Why not just use win10 and have best of both worlds? Never tried Linux for gaming, but PoE2 runs pretty well on steamdeck, so I guess its fine. If Microsoft keeps fumbling the ball with updates I think GabeN has a huge market with SteamOS and I can't wait for competition. I dread the day when Win10 won't be updated anymore tbh.

The update that came to win11 that broke task scheduling (the one that bricks machines during load times) got back ported to windows 10. Technically it seems that GGG implemented the same workaround that the third party tool did last league (pretty funny when you think about it). But even then win10 isnt that much different then 11. I already gave win10 a try during 0.1 and it had the same issues.
