Just some thoughts on the game from a nobody that nobody cares.

Just some thoughts on the game from a nobody that nobody cares.

I’ve always been a casual player for PoE1. Unlike my boyfriend Fubgun,I’m not someone who’s spent hundreds of hours on the game, but I’ve definitely dabbled in some high end crafting as well as experiencing most of the end game content. So when PoE2 was launching, I was beyond excited to play. I played when it first launched and I must say overall it was really fun, so with the launch of 0.2.0 I was expecting to also spend some quality time on the game. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The campaign was no doubt hard, but I actually enjoyed it in some sick morbid way. I managed to complete the campaign relatively quickly and then started mapping and boy was that an unforgettable experience. An unforgettable and painful experience in the worst way possible. The reason why I hire a cleaner on a monthly basis was so that I can avoid doing chores, but little did I know I would end up doing them on PoE2. Hours of mindless mapping, desperately trying to unlock Atlas passives just to be gang banged by mobs in undesirable maps such as Vaal Factory. Finding corrupted nexus for skill points in this game is beyond numbing. It’s like a marathon but less rewarding - running through countless maps, with goal so far away, it’s almost unreachable for majority of players.

To add salt to the wound, not being able to select the maps that you want to run is like a vibe vampire. Like Essence Drain, it literally sucks all the fun out of the game. But it’s fine because once you hear the sweet sweet sound of a Divine drop, it’ll all be worth it right? No - the loot drop currently in abyssmal. Finding a Divine has the same equal chance of Fubgun proposing to me.

Well if I don’t like mapping maybe I can make currency by crafting? The reality is that if I wanted to gamble I’d just go to the casino and try my luck there. Way better returns than exalt slamming on items.

I’m only writing this because this morning I logged on - did half a map, didn’t even finish it and closed the game. I’m just sad that a game with such huge potential has turned into something that I don’t even want to play and I know for the rest of this league it’d be collecting dust on my desktop. I know GGG wants to make the game experience a slower pace and I must say they’ve definitely achieved that as players are slowly leaving the game.

While I don't necessarily mind there being a "grind" to endgame I think the amount of grind vs. rewards per hour need to be overhauled.

For example I don't necessarily mind grinding out 100+ maps, a bunch of maven invitations, some Shaper, Elder, Uber Elder, Cyrus (SP?), etc. runs. But at the end I'm getting rewards after EVERY new map, EVERY new maven invitation, the first runs of all of those easy-enough-to-get-to bosses, etc..

I can also start farming content WHILE I'm also grinding to help progression, help me economically, etc....

At this point to get to any corruption I have to go randomly in the fog and hope that I bump into something worth running. I imagine I could go 10+ maps (that take longer than PoE1 maps) and get no rewards at all -- just to find something I MIGHT be able to move to and get rewards.

Humbug.
Agreed - the issue now is that it's just not rewarding. Maps after maps after maps of no loot. The icing on the cake is the fact that you're forced to do maps you don't want to
