Crafting has always been this game's barrier to entry. Poe 2 made it worse.

The accessibility problem in this game has always been crafting, and PoE2 just made it worse.
Crafting has always been unnecessarily complicated and random. It’s gambling, but a bad gambling system. It’s like betting on red 27 at the roulette table, but the system treats it like I just asked for another card in blackjack. Every step you take can simply destroy the item—there’s no middle ground. Even worse, certain items like boots or scepters have mandatory stats, and without them, the item is useless.

But let’s say I have perfect knowledge of the crafting mechanics and unlimited materials. Even then, I don’t want to spend 3 hours clicking on an item hoping that, by pure chance, I’ll get the outcome I want.

We all know crafting impacts your bottom line. You need the randomness to keep people playing and gambling. But there are better systems out there. Look at something like Last Epoch, where it’s still gambling, but at least you can get intermediate results that are useful to the player—instead of just destroying the item outright.

The thing about intermediate results is that the player will eventually rise in power tiers from getting all those intermediate results and will reach a point where those intermediate results are useless and we are back to where we started.

Um... But, thats not a true? As you are trying to say that crafting is "barrier to entry", and then - that poe2 made it worse... while POE2 has much more easier system? I am confused...

they don't want crafting to be useful. They don't want builds to be strong. They don't want loot drops to be good etc. Looks more like sabotage than anything else. Clearly everyone is not happy so why do it this way?

Poe 2 made the system both simpler and worse. Now instead of having a plenthora of way to gamble the modifications on your item, you only have 1, slaming it with the different orbs.

Its simpler and worse.

No you are not, you are litterally stating that a player gets stronger with intermediate results. Under the current POE 2 model, either you gabled your item and got an upgrade or you bricked it.
Crafting currently REALLY feels like aversion therapy for gambling addicts. If the goal was to help addicts, bravo. You've done a banger of a job at that. Even ziz quit.

Those boots without movement speed that OP is complaining about? At one point of the game, they ARE good intermediate results. Around level 20 any extra mod on your boots is a good thing cause it's an extra mod. If at this stage you use an exalted, You ARE getting intermediary results and you ARE getting stronger from them. I guess the real problem is that the power reaches a cap.
The real problem virtually every single one of the complainers have is that things require effort and they don't want to deal with that.

I play poe2 almost exclusively in a SSF environment, half HC and half SC.

The only major issue that I can see in terms of gearing progression / loot is the scarcity of jewellers orbs.

Everything else in the endgame is balanced around mediocre loot and it is actually way easier to reach that ceiling in poe2 than it is in poe1.
POE 1 offered more crafting options than a new player could handle.
Which in turn made the game more complex and resulted in less player retention.

but if it was the "Challenge" you were up for the investment and knowledge led to actual player progression and a sense of achievement.

The knowledge required in POE 2 crafting is non existent.

The only thing that really requires some knowledge is essence crafting but with the low drop rates its almost never used.

The current system is a great way to get players introduced. Def not worse. Its just bare boned.

BUT for players coming from POE1 where their end game builds come from years of knowledge in crafting items for their builds. The barebones crafting system is almost surprising and a let down coming from years of expectations due to their additions in POE 1 crafting over time.

I dont know if i would have completely changed the way crafting works compared to poe 1 but so far it just offers no knowledge to reward ratio.

I know its EA but treating it like a "release with leagues" is almost biting them in the ass with the player base expectations.

Its not even 1.0 yet and the narrative that this game sucks or is doomed is insane. Tossing band aids on instead of using the resources to fully fix the issue or change the way the system works would be better.

But since people think its a "league" they shit talk instead of waiting a few extra weeks or even months for an actual fix/change.

They have alot to work on, look at how long poe 1 and even le were in EA before they got to the state they were/are in. I fully believe they will nail it. The skeleton of POE 2 is amazing. Just needs some protein to grow some muscle and defend itself.
