Increased Item Rarity Is a "Mystery Affix" and it shouldn't be.

The VISION IS everyone should use magic items i mean who needs loot right? Who needs fun... The game feels horrible
Every single mod on gear that influences your drops should be removed, period.
No "Magic Find", no "Rarity"... nothing.

I know, ppl argue "but you trade power on your gear for these mods bla".
In reality, if you play something weaker (off-meta) you probably have no room to swap multiple mods for "rarity", but if you have a strong meta build - you can.

So, the ppl with "normal/weaker" builds not only play, well, weaker builds, but on top, get worse loot. While the strong builds who, well, are already strong, get better loot.

Like... you play "off-meta", thus you are probably slower (less loot/hour), then you can't sacrifice mods for "rarity" (less loot/hour)...

If it's too powerful, then it becomes a mandatory stat like move speed only worse, because it gets gated behind itself and creates a massive snowball effect on the economy. Like what happened last season

If it's not powerful enough, then everything good gets locked behind a few goldilocks maps of the right kind of juice

It's better to compromise and lock currency gains behind map difficulty like in poe1, it worked for a reason
I'm not taking a stance on whether it should be removed or it's too strong or whatever; it's just that it should be plainly obvious, from league to league, what IIR is and how it works. GGG should not obfuscate this stat any longer. It's bad for both games.

It is purely a mystery what it is supposed to do and what it does do; they also change how it works from league to league, the rules should be updated to reflect that.

Right now, you get as much IIR as you can in poe2, but you don't actually know what it does. It's like covering yourself in as many lucky clovers as you can.

Very good point. I enjoy tuning my gear, trying to fit magic find with resists and other stats but the compounding imbalance is not healthy for the game. And in some cases it feels like movement speed on boots. This giga headgear just dropped but no magic find? I'm not gonna use it. The balancing act of tuning my magic find stat doesn't outweigh the downsides. In theory you're trading faster clear for better drops, but as you pointed out, it doesn't work in practice.
With 3 MF modifiers on my character I have several Exalted during Act 2.

There is clearly a LARGE relation between map level, character level and amount of MF.

I suspect you can earn more Exalted during early Acts with massed MF than during mapping.
