Regen kills meaningful combats. It's the root of your problem.

Life regen is not even good in PoE2. It won't let you survive burst damage without massive investment (and even then it's meh), and cannibalism solves healing between packs. And leech nodes are among least popular on the tree.

If regen was eliminated or nerfed in the games current state, it would just result in more portals to refill flasks. No thanks

They need to add HP nodes or increase HP gained from strength before thinking about changing regen.

Be careful what you wish for is what I say. You make an excellent point here though and indeed travelling back and forth to town to refill potions would certainly slow the player down more and align with "the vision."

IN the current game state we do need more health for sure. You either have 100% health or 0% health and there is no in between. Regen doesn't really matter with our current levels of health and builds that aren't 1 shot are being saved from near death by a quick potion.
I do agree that having a combination of insane enemy damage with insane player healing is a terrible balance state to have.

OP seems to like souls-like games. Low to no regen with utterly hard combat. I have one suggestion. There is Elden Ring for You.
Don´t suggest Hack and slash ARPG game turn in to Dark souls game.

I don't suggest turning PoE2 into anything. Heck, I'm fine if it turns out a re-skin PoE1. I've got enough souls games from From software any gay. But you see how GGG keep preaching about "meaningful combat"? Johnathan himself even addressed the problem of having to "balance" the game around monsters and enemy oneshotting each other and flask management barely matters. But they can't see that giving huge recovery sources to players is a terrible mix with "impactful" and "tactical" combat.
