They nerfed presence radius from 6m down to 4m. Your game screen is about a 12m radius for context. If anything presence should have been buffed instead.

GGG hates minions, totems, debuff builds, and co-op. I genuinely don't understand any design positive to making presence a melee range mechanic.


I don’t have any uniques in my build. I don’t have any + Presence radius. I melt everything (except a few bosses).

I still find the game frustrating and not that fun. But it’s not anything to do with my build. Minion builds are still definitely viable.

I use Frost Mages, when weapon swapping there is a 4 second cooldown before i can use their command ability that i rely on. So for 4 seconds there i am useless. And add minions dying to that and there is even more downtime. I did the Azak Bog boss, minions got one shot killed so for a total of 20+ seconds during that fight all i could do was run around and wait. Good gameplay decisions there. :D There should be an option to revive minions or something instead of having them on cooldown. No other build in the game has that amount of downtime due to different decisions made by GGG.

You can increase it on the passive tree and with scepters.

We're talking about getting locked out of the boss arena.

You can use weapon swap with plenty of time before the boss activates.

On top of that, simply ordering the minions into the arena before you enter yourself would prevent them from getting locked out. This is not a real problem for anyone who tries to solve it.
Use the minion move command.
Use weapon swap.
Use your presense (this is intended to keep you NEAR your army).
Stack minion defences and life and if you want revive.
Make sure you have enough Clerics. I'm conservative so I use 3 in an army of 14-16 skellies.

All the problems described in this thread are already solvable. Some are work around that will be fixed eventually (mins being locked out side a boss area a is obviously not intended behavior lol).

Out side a couple big boss attacks, that would also one shot me char BTW, I very rarely get army wiped. And those big boss attacks, I've learned the telegraph and either move my army out of the way or send them as a decoy so that I don't die. Aaaand a few seconds later all my skelle bros are back flinging hate at the enemy. Just as intended.

I have enough of hours into minionbuilds to know how to play it. And I have played other characters as well. But my Huntress for example does not drop her spear from time to time so I need to run around for a couple of seconds before I can do dps again. No matter how you cammand minions and all that. When they die you are out of options. Minions are your weapon, mininons dead = 0 dps for as long as they are dead. That is simple. No other class needs to think about that.

I have 600+ hours in the game so far and most of that is minion builds. I do know how to play minions. But there is still the issue that when minions die you are out of dps for that duration. No matter how much you command minions and all that. If you think of minions as your weapon of choise in the game, there is issues. As i stated earlier, I play a huntress for example, i do not need to stack durability on the weapon so it wont break during fight and i need to wait for it to repair for 6 seconds. I do not need to drop the weapon so I havev to wait before i can do dps again. Minions are the witchs weapon and only means of dps. Stacking too much life and suvivability takes down dps. So no matter how you try to turn it into commands and other ways, there is still the issue where players are left out of doing any damage for the revive duration and that is minion builds only.
