Does this include yourself or is this a wasted stat if you aren't playing with minions?

It actually says so in the tooltip, hold Alt when you see the weapons tooltip and then hover over "Allies" to see an explanation.

It’s useful if you are partying or grouping to help someone level. Have a sceptre that boosts their damage way up.
|
|
|
Tamed beasts also count.
Even if you’re not minion build, catch yourself a good one with haste/hinder aura. |
