Feedback from new player in POE world since 0.1
Hello everyone!
I'm Gabes, a beta tester for Path of Exile 2, and I'm here to share some of my feedback about the game. I paid to test the game, and as someone who works with UX/UI design, I understand how important good user feedback is. To begin with, I want to mention that I’ve never played Path of Exile 1 and didn’t look up the differences between the two games because I just wanted to focus on POE2. I’ve played around 600 hours since its release and had a lot of fun, but version 0.2.0 feels a bit odd to me. In this season, I enjoyed the story more, but it felt easier than when I first played it in version 0.1.0. I’m not particularly concerned about map-related issues because I don’t focus on them much. I know I take longer than the average player to complete the story since I like to clear all maps and complete all secondary tasks, even when it’s not rewarding. However, in the endgame, the sense of fun started to fade because there are some issues I’d like to address. Here are my main observations: - The game’s currency system is broken again. I’m not sure how this happened, but a few weeks ago, within 24 hours, Divine went from 60 to 100 Exalted. - It’s very hard to find a viable melee build. I’m not a fan of ranged playstyles, and while I understand the focus on testing Amazon and Ritualist, this season might as well be called "Dawn of the Lightning Spear." - Bleeding is an interesting mechanic, but currently, the best bleed build is a Blood Mage using Lightning Spear with a Rake. - To make bleeding more viable for other builds, I think the game should include skills like Cast on Blood, along with accessories and weapon stats focused on bleeding. Additionally, mechanics like bleeding and poison could use clearer in-game descriptions to help players understand how they work and which stats to prioritize. (Keep in mind, I didn’t play POE1 and have only been playing POE2 since January.) - Since the 0.1 to 0.2 update, ice and fire have almost disappeared from builds, making it challenging to create something effective. - You mentioned a "show of nerfs" and that this season would be very challenging, but did you really test Lightning Spear? I’d expect the game to be hard for everyone, but playing with Lightning Spear is neither difficult nor challenging. I don’t even need to use parry or stack a lot of resistance, and with Blood Mage and Amazon, it’s possible to one-shot T4 pinnacles on a low budget and with zero effort. - The Expedition mechanic has mobs that don’t make sense. Some can one-shot you from off-screen, and in dark or jungle-themed maps with too many visual elements, this is simply frustrating. It’s not a skill issue—it’s poor level design. - Players are avoiding maps with zero modifiers because they’re “too hard.” On the other hand, some people are running maps with six modifiers, and surprisingly, there’s no real difference! Making content harder doesn’t provide any additional rewards or XP, which contradicts the idea of adding challenge to the game this season. - Regarding challenges, pinnacle bosses are okay, but most of them aren’t worth doing since the drops are pointless in this nerfed season. They’re only completed to get a few Atlas points, which feels disappointing. - Lastly, I want to say how much I love the wisps mechanic—it's super fun! However, after farming wisps for three days, I realized it’s not worth it. Wisps, strongboxes, and rogue exiles feel like scam mechanics right now. I wasted my Atlas points, and nothing really changed. Last bumped24 апр. 2025 г., 06:56:49

Swell feedback. If only i and others could muster up what it takes to post lengthy critique. Alas, most of us just loose our shit and post "Loot Sucks" (which ... it does atm - specifically currency drop rates - i mean, why i the hell are my skill upgrades gated behind insane RNG? Is it normal to be lvl 76 and still using all 3 slot skills / supports? Genuine question. Maybe this is intended?)... and other half raged comments that only drive home the "unhappy" part.
Cheers. GGG - Why you no? Последняя редакция: JoannaDark#6252. Время: 23 апр. 2025 г., 16:42:06

"Expedition in PoE 2 was odd nostalgia as the mobs were pretty much ported over from PoE 1. They highlight how different the combat philosophy is between the two games. The "just blast faster" mentality of PoE 1 meant you didn't care too much what the mobs were doing, there'd only be a few rares who live for seconds. It does need some re-consideration coming into PoE 2's world. "So this is an odd change from PoE 1 where more map mods directly meant more loot. In PoE 2, the benefit is... more waystones. Not exactly exciting. " They also said "we're looking forward to seeing what broken things players will find". Also that they ran out of time for the announced 0.2 release date to get to the buffs after cramming in all the nerfs. The impression I get is that testing was focussed on stopping crashes, not on a fine-tuned UX. That and the elusive Nvidia driver bug is holding up testing manpower. Incidentally Shockburst Rounds (crossbow) are in a pretty powerful position too. They did get some buffs in before the 0.2 release and overcompensated - especially with Tactician Pin. |

" I understand about it, I feel dumb sometimes when i'm trying do my own build coz have too much possibilites, I tried go to bleed and melee combat but i strugle a lot of times, but i'm still getting divines to try another things about it to do somethink work. And about crashes is really awful thing, and i understand is not their problem at all for this reason i listen some problems to me... but thanks for ur feedback <3 Последняя редакция: lucv555#7846. I don't think you have a great grasp of the viability of different builds.
The league was called "Dawn of the Hunt" and all the marketing around it was around the huntress including the reveal trailer, the skill showcase videos that were launched a couple of days before the league up to even the new mechanic "Azmeri wisps" being tied to the huntresses background. Lightning spear was just the most popular build in that toolkit. If you look at poe2.ninja for HC SSF Dawn of the Hunt league (https://poe2.ninja/builds/dawnhcssf) you can actually see that almost all the ascendancies have players in the 90s using all sorts of different skills, only 12% of that leaderboard is using lightning spear. Here are also some examples of other builds that are just deleting T15 bosses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvXRkKPC1zg (this one's melee) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx-uyfvH2FY (Flicker strikes technically melee right?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFkd_85iCC4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDNX-KkD9ms There are also a ton of boneshatter / perfect strike / hammer of the gods builds going around if you check poe2.ninja. I haven't seeing a build guide for those myself but probably you can find one if you're interested in that sort of thing. " Woolie's amazon seems perfectly viable as well lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VazRyWStHg4 " They are touching atleast remnants in 0.2g, we'll see if they address some of the mobs as well: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3765101 " Also going to be addressed in 0.2g thankfully: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3765101 It's crazy to me that all the other mechanics have pretty much quaranteed drops but wisps almost never drop talismans. " You should use omens to try to get to 3 prefixes and one suffix for optimal mapping setups. Suffixes are still good for waystone drop chance when you go to citadels to get a chance at more fragments. " Are you doing t4s or t0s? The difference between the two is probably massive. That being said hopefully they address this as well when they look at boss loot floors in 0.2g: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3765101 Последняя редакция: RusinaRange#6285. " Thank you for repply, i doing T4s, about bleeding build i'm aware and thanks to share this video with me. My biggest question about maps and builds is like about the relationship between difficulty and reward doesn’t seem to be well-established in the game, and from what I understand so far, the harder challenges were supposed to offer better rewards—but I might be mistaken |

" So I'm not sure in what sense you mean difficulty isn't rewarding. If you mean the negative map modifiers on waystones not giving better loot you are 100% right. You can mostly avoid those by running 2 affix waystones or by using omens to get only prefixes on your waystones. Higher tier levels do give better loot on multiple different axi however: 1. The higher the tier level of the waystone the higher the ilvl (item level) of dropped items are. To get a chance at the best affixes on your drops you need higher item level gear with level 82 gear (gear dropped in T16 waystones with irradiation and +1 level effect from corruption or cleanse) having access to all affix tiers for all affixes, you can check what ilvl is required for what tier in poe2db (spears as an example: https://poe2db.tw/us/Spears#ModifiersCalc) 2. Higher tier waystones can have better prefix rolls. Eg. T1-5 can have increased rarity of items between 55–75% while T11-16 maps can have 101–150%. 3. AFAIK some currency drops are also limited by ilvl. Eg. as far as I know perfect jewellers orbs can only drop in areas with an area level of 82. It might be that other drop chances are adjusted as well. The amount of loot is heavily tied to the amount of rare monsters or monsters in general so a T15 might not necessarily have more drops in it AFAIK but the drops should be better on average with T1 maps not being able to even drop the best items available. |
