Done with this patch. My verdict
I've put close to 100 hours in so nobody can say i didn't give it a fair shake.
Campaign In 0.1 i would have rated the campaign 8/10. Granted some of it was the novelty factor but overall felt better balanced. In 0.2 i dreaded doing it again. First 3 acts were a chore, cruel acts fighting the mobs felt better but the overall balancing was way out of tune. Some bosses were way too difficult for a more casual approach and required respeccing of skills and gear. Imho if a boss has for instance lightning res that shouldn't mean that a char dealing lightning damage can barely put any dent into it. It should mean that instead of 2 minutes it may take 3 minutes to deplete the health bar not 10-15. Completely bonkers. My rating this time around 4/10. Endgame Two things really ruffled my feathers. One the piss poor loot drops, especially currency. In 100 hours i only dropped 2 divines, 2 greater (one in the last map that i played) and 2 perfect jewellers orbs. That's way too little. What if i wanted to try out more classes and skills? All around the game felt like doing home chores and an unpaid internship. I can tell you already that i will quit 0.3 and subsequent versions way earlier if the game ever gives me that feeling of wasting my time for no rewards again. Second thing that bothered me big time was that at no point my build really came online. I've played the supposedly "OP" lightning spear but at all times was a glass cannon that was awkward to maneuver around one shots and other bs. I could either spec into damage and that actually felt good but have no defenses or do defenses and get a bad vibe from fighting/serious trouble with single target. In the end gave it a last try and managed to get to 3400 ES and still defense didn't feel good. I probably would have needed 4k+ but that would have meant to literally replace every gear piece that i grinded for with something from trade. Super unsatisfying game loop. In general too many badly thought through systems that one has to maneuver with gearing. Move speed, rarity, stun threshold necessity really messes with the builds damage and/or defenses when nothing is perfectly rolled. Things that broke the camels back for me in the end: Tried to get my 4th ascendancy. With lvl 80 Sekhemas stone impossible with my build. The only content where white mobs suddenly didn't die easily. Had one 75 lvl stone left. Looked good like i could do it. Ruined by server issues. Lost all boons, then lost all sacred water, then lost honour to white mobs due to server lag. Next day tried to do stone citadel. Doryani that i had no problem with during acts suddenly 20x more difficult with my char meanwhile in level 90. Thx but no thx. I'm not the best player but 0.1 felt good to me because i could make up for my shortcomings in ability by being diligent and inching towards my goals. 0.2 way too random and demanding difficulty ceiling to get good sense of progress.
