How trading make you feel loots is bad
Hi guys,
Small thought here about how trading is ruining some players experience. Im a SSF player and I just disagree while some players said stuff looted sucks and is useless. Then I realize that : For most of players, they play few hours a day. When they reach end game and maps T1, they decide to buy some stuff. So they buy it from players who spent 10h+ playing the game and already are doing T15 maps. For dozens of exalted, they buy stuff with some affixes T10+. Such items loot on maps T12+, never before. So this players, who just want to enjoy end game and think the best way is to buy some stuff while reaching T1 map, are just ruining their experience of end game. Ofc stuff looted in T1 map (weapons, armor, rings,...) have only Tier 6 affixes max. Then its T8 affixes map in T6 map for example, Then finally when reaching T12 map, they can find some stuff that have a chance to be better than what they bought while reaching the beginning of T1 maps. So for such players, they feel loots of rares items suck during all their travel through end game maps. And they are right cause they decided to jump some steps by buying stuff. Just try something like Im doing, just dont buy anything at the start of maps, take your time to go through and improve your character and you will see, the game would be much more enjoyable ;-) Последняя редакция: Legoury#0138. I play SSF too and I disagree with loot being fine. Can you reach t15? Sure. But honestly, it feels like hitting a brick wall at some point when it comes to loot progression.
I don't need mirror tier items but goddamn do some mechanics feel bad. I tried the recombinator. I collected some of the endgame two hand maces I found along the way that either had high % phys dmg or high flat phys dmg or high atk spd. Farmed a bunch of expedition to have enough mats for recombining. I had 3 fracturing orbs and tried to use it to fracture some good mods on the mace - all failed, because ofc we need rng on that too, only hitting shitty mods I don't want. Anyway, I tried recombining: 10 attempts at getting combinations of two high tier mods of % phys dmg, flat phys dmg or atk spd all failed. Nice dude! Like 20 hours of farming right down the shitter with nothing to show for it! Not even a consolation prize. So I went over to ritual. Found a juicy tower set up of 4 overlapping towers. Put in a bunch of ritual precursor tablets and regular tablets. Started farming ritual. 60 or so ritual maps yielded a grand total of one invitation to the king and one omen of whittling, bunch of trash omens and some currency. A single attempt at trying to reroll a low tier trash mod on an item. Rerolled 3-7 fire dmg (t1) to 32% increased stun build up. Another weekend into the shitter with nothing to show for it. Needless to say I am slamming exalts/chaos/vaal every opportunity I get on anything that seems remotely useful for me. Yields hardly anything useful, practically only bricking items. Haven't had an item improvement in probably like 30-40 hours. And trust me, there is a lot of improvement on virtually every piece of gear I have. So for the moment I have given up. This is not how it should be. A game focused around loot that refuses to give loot is a big design fail. Don't get me wrong, campaign felt nice progressionwise, going from t1 to t15 also okay albeit with a lot slower progression, but now trying to go for pinnacle content it feels like all came to a grinding halt. I don't want to farm 500 hours to be able to do t4 pinnacle content. I am tired boss, this feels like a second job. |

" Thats what Im talking about yeah. Im not talking about looting the BiS gear, we still need more tools to do it, but to reach T15 maps. You seem to have a feeling of progression during campaign then through T1-15 maps. A lot of players just feel it boring at the start of T1 map, cause they are overstuff and game is so, boring for them. |

I'm SSF also and I think loot/crafting is bad. Getting to t15 seems to be purely a function of how viable your build is. How easy it is to get to t15 depends on how many affixes your build needs to be good.
For witch I just needed resistances, +3 to all skills, and a big energy shield. That's attainable in the current system. The hardest part being the +3 to all skills, since that just has to drop for you. But getting good resist gear is easy. Many rings have resistance as implicits. So you don't have to do very much to get 3-4 resist on a single ring. And with socket you can cover whatever you miss. On the other hand, if you need resist, skills, damage, attack speed, and crit chance, just to be viable. You're screwed. The more affixes your build needs to be good, the harder it is to get to t15. There aren't enough sockets to help you. The essences are random, Greater barely drop even with atlas support. Recombinator chance are absymal. If you need multiple affixes to be viable, there just aren't enough tools available |

" SSF witch here too. And my +3 skills wasn't a drop, it was from a vendor NPC. That feels bad in an ARPG that's supposedly about loot. Imagine if I had to use the current crafting system to instead make that +3. I've made various posts here throughout my playthrough in 0.2, commenting on how in SSF nearly everything I've used has been from a vendor. I've picked up every single usable rare and magic item. I play SSF because I wanted to "use what I find", it's just a shame my "finds" are nearly all vendor items. It's boring to so rarely find anything at all useful. I stopped playing in T7 not because I was having any issues at all with my build or clear or gear, it just got boring never finding anything cool in a genre of a game that's all about finding cool stuff. | |
" I also think that this is an issue. But I think they might just need to improve the crafting system instead of making loot drops better. |

I think, about my stuff on my 0.2 character, I have 1 item made with expedition NPC (belt), 3 looted (2 uniques and 1 rare with some exalted used), 5 from Alva (then crafted with exalted) and 1 made with alva, then recombinator, then fractured orb and finally chaos orbs.
So yeah, even I think we can find some pretty good stuff from loots, most of good stuff come from Alva and thats pretty bad and weird. I hope next patch would make loots more impactful, speciall in end game with more tier 4-5 loots !!! |

" Imo, if they just decide to focus on crafting system and dont care about loots anymore, they would just go on the way of PoE1 and so, just make loots totally useless and that would be pretty bad for the future of this game... The hardest part is how you balance loots and crafting tools. If you put too many crafting tools too powerful, loots would be useless. If you put useless crafting tools cause too expensive or too RNG, loots would be more interesting but players would be frustrated. For me, we just need more loots in the higher tier affixes, and just few more tools to improve possibility to change or add 1 specific affix. GGG have to think about 2 affixes that are problematic imo, because its too important to have it : - MS on boots - upgrade lvl of gems, specifically on wand (cause its too powerful as caster). I personnaly really like the idea to have a way to improve just 1 single tier of affix once, in order to make it higher. I hope they would revert the tier of affix to make it clearer (T1 > T12). They could add the possibility to add more artifacts to recombine items, at least to have possibility to reach 50% probability, as a guy proposed. 100%, even with a lot of artifact used, should not be a good idea imo. Essences should be rework imo. If greater are so rare, we need to be sure to have a high tier item when used. I find normal essences pretty useless, except in early game. I agree with the initial statement.
There is also another aspect why loot feels "bad": you skip most of the loot progression by buying T15 loot from the auction house. The current game is basically campaign + progressing from T1 to T15 maps. There isn't much content after that, only a few pinnacle bosses. So there also isn't much loot progression left. |
