Rare monsters need more distinctive visual representation on their models
The new icons to point out rares on the map area great, but if you're not playing with the minimap directly over your screen it involves a lot of checking the top right hand corner for their map position.
The visual clarity of seeing if a monster is indeed rare without looking at the minimap or hovering over them is.. harsh. If they've got something like magma barrier or energy aura? sure, thats great but otherwise it can be a tough time especially if the size of the monster is especially tiny. Its very easy to get caught up in the visual effects of shatters, herald explosions, ground effects, etc. I don't think it'd be too "gamey" to give them a visual effect like a dragon ball z saiyan aura, but if that doesn't work, something like the cull the weak/parry visual, glowing around the eyes/head MIGHT work. I find rare mobs fairly easy to pick out by:
1) Most rare mods have some sort of visual effect that makes them stand out 2) They're the ones not dying straight away But they could do with a yellow glow or something, trouble with making it too obvious is every rare will end up looking similar and you might not easily be able to tell what kind of mob it is Maybe a yellow outline rather than a red one? |
