Do you think more loot is dropping?

As long as crafting is an RNG fiesta where you need hundreds of exalts and a couple divines to produce anything good, there is no such thing as too much loot. If they improved on crafting, the loot could go back so that we need less materials. But they need to improve crafting first and they dont because its a giant effort. You need to come up with an interesting concept that actually works and then fine tune the numbers. This could be a months long process and its very worrying that they dont even talk about this in any interview...
To be fair, there is too much "item" loot at the moment, and that is only because items have to be identified, so loot filters can't work on those items.

Item identification is one of those things GGG insists to keep in the game, just because their Gods did it that way, so they must do it that way. They are blind to the benefit of removing identification altogether, as proven by Last Epoch.

Why should loot filters not work on unidentified items? Items have bases and tiers. Any loot filter can be set to filter out any item of a type below a certain base or tier. For instance, with my best character I use uber strict settings to ignore anything but the top bases and only those of high tiers. Sure, through a lot of RNG you can make a subpar base of a low tier a good item but the chances are much lower.

I saw on poe2filter.com that:

"
Warning! Filtering on Unidentified Item Tiers is currently not supported by GGG!

If you're hiding Magic or Rare Items, they will be hidden even if they have an Unidentified Tier, e.g. (Tier 4). Therefore, after defeating a boss or rare monster, quickly check whether they dropped any item with an Unidentified Tier.

So I'm not exactly sure what the situation is now.

Its true that for high bases the tier-only filtering does not seem to work properly yet, but by getting rid of the low bases you already get rid of 95% of the useless gear items already.

I use NeverSinks filter btw. It comes with nice predefined grades of strictness and I whenever I check by pressing alt, theres never smth on the ground that I wanted.

I started a new character and so far I’m level 25. Definitely seems better gear drops, items I can actually use. Currency seems little changed though. Only one exalt by level 25 so crafting is just white to blue item and see if hit lucky and can’t buy anything worthwhile in trade. Do you think it’s better?

you gonna get 500 items an hour and 0 currency as usual , and out of those 500 items MAYBE 1 is going to be useful/sellable
I will try to add my experience so far:

Chests and Strongboxes OMFG yes so much so I actually look forward to finding them. One rare chest had 4 exalt.

Expedition feels so much more rewarding.

Bosses drop more appropriate loot.

Rares are better but not as good as I hoped. I still dont see much exalt/chaos/alchemy level currency. Sometimes none a whole map.

Im only at T4 maps and I know that GGG is lazy and the loot got balanced from the. using a loot simulator app @T16 tricked out 100th level guy and that does make mileage vary greatly for lower tier players.

Still not a single div in about 40 maps.

But overall experience feels way more fun.

Noticed a substantial increase in loot (items) as I played the campaign, currency still felt very stingy but I just assumed it was campaign.

Now in maps and currency stills feels the same, although I am getting a ton more yellow items to drop.

It's a shame because of the fundamental flaws in the crafting system all the item drops we now have a ton of are basically worthless in non-SSF if you're not rolling in 50+ divs to do proper crafting.

I just want to play the game and every now and then find something I can use to upgrade my character. I don't want to spend 50% of my playtime ferrying back full inventories of items so I can do the identify-sort-RNG craft-recombine loop that still ends with nothing.

This loot increase felt good at first glance, now playing with it I feel like it's the gaming equivalent of having to use a wheelbarrow filled with money to buy a loaf of bread.
