Lost the reliquary key when your servers went down

I am new to the game and every event was fun, but because of constant bugs and server crashes the game seems like a complete disappointment.
Today I knocked out a reliquary key on the map, figured out how to use it, went to the storage and during the loading screen I was thrown out of the game. When trying to log back in, the message "unable to load the area" was displayed.
After five minutes of unsuccessful attempts, I was allowed into the game, but I did not see the storage, nor did I have the key in my inventory.
