Overnerfed Fun: When Balance Kills Enjoyment

We’ve all been there a favorite item or strategy gets hit with the nerf hammer, and suddenly it goes from fun-but-strong to barely-worth-using. While balance changes are necessary, sometimes patches can go too far, stripping away what made certain items enjoyable in the first place. So, let’s discuss: What items/mechanics do you think were overnerfed? Did the nerf remove their viability, or just their fun factor? Could they have been adjusted differently to keep them engaging? I’ll start: Let’s talk about Temporalis Robe once-beloved item that’s now a shadow of its former self. It used to shave 2–4 seconds off cooldowns, enabling fun. Now? It’s been gutted to just 1–2 seconds, which feels like overkill for most practical uses. But ofc this wasnt enough and now u can't even use acolyte builds to farm it. (and this class was already last used) This way not many players really want to farm this and even if they do its mostly for divines coz temporalis is such a rare item (17 atm on market). (edit: 2-3 seconds would be enough nerf) I feel like dev's didn't study the problem much and just nerfed everything what was in temporalis autobobmber bloodmage build which indeed (overall) was too strong. Archmage – Nerfed Sparks – Nerfed Choir of the Storms ^ every problem could be solved by caping dmg stacking on 3k maybe 4k mana instead of gutting this whole combo. but this nerfed tools was also MAIN items/skills for maaany builds and in result we re forced to play lightning spear builds. Ofc there are many builds that can work... but they cannot compete with LS builds... Maybe we need to make a good post with many examples to help GGG find a good way in balancing skills, classes and items, since now mostly streamers do it. Последняя редакция: GrindingAddict#3460. Just buff everything else to be OP so people can play whatever they want. It's really simple. Nerfing stuff is never fun so just buff everything else. If every skill was as viable and fun as Lightning Spear, then the meta wouldn't look like it does now lmao, people only play LS because its a waste of time to play anything weaker.
In LE the least-played classes are 6%, meanwhile PoE 2 ascendancies have 1% and less than 1% numbers on poeninja, that's just sad. Just buff instead of nerf, that's all you need to do to make a fun game. Also this game is in desperate need of simple QOL like auto-sort inventory button, AH etc. etc. like there are games from 10 years ago that have this stuff. |
