Five Weeks into 0.2.0, POE2 is Down 93.2% Players All Time & 83.9% from Patch Launch

They need to abandon The Vision completely, improve player speed by 100% and player power by 300%.

Otherwise 0.3 will not have even 250k. I assume it will have 100k on launch and then drop to 50k on week 2.

Twitch today:

Diablo 4 2100
PoE2 700 (!)

Simple catastrophe.
And do not tell me that this is not accurate data (it is not :D )
but shows the trend and is based on real people not on witch crystal ball.

people who defense PoE2 that has great development simply living in other parallel reality.

D4: Finished game, not in EA, gets seasons from time to time
PoE2: Still in development, lots of missing content and balance changes, no seasons yet and only patches from time to time and right now it costs money to play while it will be free2play once it releases

Obviously PoE2 does not have the same playerbase yet. It will get there once PoE2 is v1.0 and is free2play. But right now? Of course people leave after they have played 200-1000 hours and experienced most of the current content. And as long as there is nothing significant new except some minor mechanic changes here and there, people will not return until the next big patch or a start of a season.

D4 on release had less content than PoE2 though.
It had no uber bosses and no endgame bosses at all.
And only nightmare dungeons and hell tides.

It has less items and less classes.
Also D4 indeed cost money, 70 USD at release (vs 30 USD for PoE2).

The actual reason is that PoE2 gameplay is bad.
And 0.2 made it worse, nerfing players to the ground.
The game is not enjoyable, that's it.
Bring back proper player speed and you will see a lot of players in EA.
Keep "vision" and it will barely have players even being free.

And now look how many players D4 had at start and how many player PoE2 had at start. ;)

PoE2 had a more succesful "launch" then D4 when it comes to playercount. And D4 was a 1.0 release with the full story, while PoE2 doesnt even have all acts and lots of classes/skills are missing. It doesnt matter if D4 had "less". It was a finished product and more or less balanced. PoE2 is supposed to be in a rough state, because it's EA. Why do people not understand the meaning of EA.

Gameplay may be bad in your opinion, but it's not the reason for the decline. It's natural - and you can see that with EVERY live service game out there - that interest declines once players have played through the content (multiple times).

People play broken builds and want to play PoE2 like they did PoE1, which is obviously not their vision for PoE2 and then complain, that their build got nerfed. Funny. If you can't handle nerfs, don't play EA.

How many hours have you played PoE2?

If you want speed, go to PoE2. There is a reason why GGG wants to keep PoE1 on the market.
POE2 is an ARPG in early access and missing half its launchday content. Even in the future 1.0 state, it will not be a life-consuming game for anyone outside of hardcore grinders or the truly passionate. It's fine if the majority of the playerbase comes and goes, or have people who dump 1K hours at once to maybe never return. Games are supposed to be temporary distractions, not chores to be done daily.

24/7 doomposting about player counts should be confined to MMO and gacha communities worried about their "investment" losing "value".

that is exactly why shit needs to be addressed now.
you are on the precipice of getting it yet still missing the point.

the CORE has major issues.
adding icing to a cake made out of shit wont make the cake taste good.

wait a minute....did you really write this? D4, the game that broke every single sales record that exists? And you really think PoE2 was a MORE successful launch? Not only that, but D4's retention in the early days even amidst all the turmoil was BETTER than PoE2, by percentage and by numerical values at a factor of 10 or even 100 lol.

No......D4's launch was WILDLY successful, far more so than the launch of PoE 2 beta. D4 was and remains a terrible game, but don't mix your personal feelings with cold hard numerical facts.

In fact, BECAUSE PoE 2 is a beta means that declining numbers are a better indicator of a faulty game. Presumably the majority of folks who paid to play a beta are PoE 1 players and those who KNEW what they were getting into. D4 as you said was a finished game with a much broader reach. Far more likely for people to buy and leave just because. I could compare PoE 2 to PoE 1 beta, which was an even SMALLER game than PoE 2 - and yet the game GREW throughout the beta because it was good.

Of course these numbers don't tell the whole story, but gameplay and unhappiness definitely plays a huge role in retention numbers for PoE 2. The game has only been out 6 months. Being a totally new game, it SHOULD have retained much more of its initial playerbase across this whole time even if there were ZERO content patches if the game itself was well-received. But it didn't. And the content patches that you claimed are necessary have so far failed to recoup the player loss.
Starting anew....with PoE 2

We'll see tomorrow if they release the update, but if player count gets to even 50k I'd be surprised.
most people look at the economy and know its dead, they are just waiting for 0.3
[Removed by Support]

Seeing how they can let a major feature sit completely broken and unusable (specters) for 2 months. It's the same feeling I got when nothing worked in d4 and stayed that way for 4 months at a time. There is literally NO DIFFERENCE in how they treat the development.

Major bummer and tons of respect forever gone.
