Gambling vendors nerfed?

I have run a lot of characters thru campaign this season. 9 in total. Gambling has been the way to get good items with no crafting and drops being crap. So today started a sorc (9th). Was looking for wands.. now it seems we have a limit on how many we can buy? Not gold limit as I have 1.9 million. But I can't buy any wands.. or I can buy 1 or 2.. then none. It appears to be on a timer..

Really? No crafting and you need the only real way to get good bases? Does anyone at ggg actually play the game off dev mode? I am less and less inclined to believe that anyone in the dev room plays off test mode.. for a horrible start to awesome fixes to again, ridiculous nerfs for no reason. Wtf

This limit only exists in the campaign and it's not actually a timer. For the gambling vendor in each town that acts a teleport hub that you pass through, you should see a small X/X number noted, in the lower right corner of the vendor inventory screen. This serves as a counter for how many items you can still gamble from this vendor before it locks you out.

If you gambled up that limit and the counter reaches zero, you can increase it again but it only increases from defeating unique monsters (so bosses). I also believe the counter is independent per vendor and thus to increase your gambling attempts again in act 1, i assume that only killing act 1 unique monsters would count. And so on, same thing for the other acts. Ofc, most people don't actually do repeat boss runs on random campaign bosses, so mostly, reaching the limit with a certain vendor comes down to being locked out of gambling with that particular vendor.

You'll get a fresh counter again when you reach the next hub (or thus, next act) though.

I believe that's how it works. But yes, it's incredibly limiting and i don't immediately get the reason why. Maybe they don't like handing out a sizable amount of loot without us having to defeat any monsters and/or want to prevent people from just getting effortless loot daily if it were instead, for example refreshed daily ? But i feel that the gold cost is actually sufficiently limiting in and by itself to achieve that.
It's not as if it would somehow influence character twinking either cause people tend to just use pre-farmed uniques and other gear for that. And as mentioned before, the limit is only on vendor inventories used during the campaign, so i'm not sure why this is even a thing :S

There is also the issue that reaching that limit just gets translated to the player as suddenly somehow being unable to drag/click items from the vendor inventory to our own, without any other additional indication or explanation as to why. Sure, the counter is there but is easy to miss. And without actively hovering over it with your mouse to get the explanation of what it stands for and how it works, players are left with zero information as to what the hell is going on.

In my opinion, it needs at least an additional on-screen message when trying to gamble over the imposed per-vendor limit and maybe a flashing of the counter so people would more easily spot it.
But i think they have bigger fish to fry for the moment than improving this feature's visibility and in-game explanation :p

The more unique and rare monsters you kill, the more you can gamble. That's how it works.

Consider this quote my TLDR :p
But i'm not sure rare monsters count though, do they ? Because, when you hover over the counter, it clearly only states 'unique' monsters and any other in-game reference to 'unique' monsters always refers to only bosses, not rare mobs...

I play with controller and don't see this counter. It may be just uniques and that I was wrong. Yes. Easy to kill ton of on waypoint after a1 town... there is the cold witch boss...

When was this implemented?
It was implemented in 0.2

It's only a limit at low levels, could be a thing against bots.

Yeah, because bots will be selling low level wands... no, it's a mechanic to push people to the online market as early as possible...

GGG has made the game as inconvenient as it can be... during the campaign, unless you're insanely lucky you will go through it either with MISERABLE gear or you will have to go to the online auction house very VERY early...

And miserable gear in PoE2 means that ever fight is sooooo long and sooooooo boring that you will eventually go to the auction house to save yourself from blowing your brains out...
