The issue with the ascendancy is Darkness and the RNG involved in Into the breach and unravelling. No one wants 0 spirit and no creativity in thir build for a bit of extra defence. That make's Darkness practically a dead set of nodes.

Unravelling and Into the breach. Too much RNG.. There's plenty of ascendancies which just give flat positive out-comes without RNG. And the power ceiling for these nodes is not that high even with the RNG.

The rest of the nodes are decent.

It doesn't help that right as they debuted these neat things Chayulas can do with Chaos Damage, they simultaneously released Support Gems and Keystones that steal their thunder.

Honestly just replace Darkness and the skill nodes with the Grafts in PoE.
You can make Grafts cost Darkness Reservation of you really want to keep that failed mechanic.

Just make chaos versions of the important supports in Darkness Grafts if so.

Considering boss fights getting longer, volatility is getting indirectly buffed.
Still, doesn't matter at very high-end, but is a thing to keep in mind.
