Why can't I play "maps" sooner?

playing "maps" lead you to fighting uber bosses and playing pinnacle content. You would know if you had reached this point in the game but you cannot even bring yourself to the fight the bosses in campaign and then challenge more difficult versions of them later in maps.

What? I finished 4 acts with my own build (warrior) on SSF and in the process I threw away 2 characters (witch 0.2 and monk 0.3) because my builds didn't work there.

And when I finally finished the 4th act I was rewarded with "interlude act" which was quite literally created to provide "filler content".

How much more effort do you expect people to exert? Why should I do spent another 5-10 hours playing meaningless filler when I could do anything else ... like play Silksong that just came out? I still didn't try Expedition 33. I still didn't finish Space Exploration (the mod not the DLC) in Factorio...

Obviously you didn't play in 0.2 as in 0.2 you had to do Act 1-3 TWICE and seeing to how you're complaining now you wouldn't of played 0.2

Interludes was a way to not make it filler content and give players a better experience before maps.

Also this is Early Access, expect things to not be completed.

Read my comment again " I threw away 2 characters (witch 0.2 and monk 0.3) because my builds didn't work there". What do you not understand about me playing 0.2 and throwing away the account because it didn't work? I didn't get past act 2 with the Witch. [Removed by Support]

Also what maps? What better experience? I spent 20-30 hours playing the game and I stilld on't know what maps are.

Just play Expedition 33 as you said you hadn't played it yet, gonna take you longer there to reach new game plus.

PoE 2 is in Early Access, come back in a year. Maybe it'll be better for you.

okay so you don't want interlude acts, which is fair as it's not the completed acts they have in mind, but you're not ready for T1 maps as the difficulty would be too high. So you're asking them to create something easier than T1 maps as filler content until you reach the actual mapping?
I don’t conceptually take issue with allowing access to maps whenever. I guess I’m not really understanding why the campaign or interludes would be “filler” though. It’s an ARPG…you kill stuff and get loot. Whether it’s campaign or interludes or end game maps, it’s kind of the same thing either way. They could reduce the barrier to maps or do a D4 like option where we go straight there and I’d be fine with that, though I do think we should do the campaign at least once.

Unlike in Diablo 4 though, PoE doesn't scale that way which would mean having to make people instantly level 65 and giving them starter gear.

OR

Make new maps starting with monster level 1 onwards (making it scale with level), which is a lot more work when the game isn't even finished yet.

Then you have 50% of players complaining in the forums that these "pre-endgame" maps are horribly balanced and GGG now has to work on that instead of the endgame we love PoE for.

because map lvl starts at 66 meaning you would need auto boosts to that lvl
then there is gearing
so you think you should just be at mapping lvl and receive FREE gear like are you a gen Z because it sure sounds like it.

the interludes are an introduction to what mapping looks like they are in fact END GAME MAPS with the exact same mechanics.

If playing the Story is a chore to you then End game will be like overtime at work in a job you hate lol.
i get why in wow you'd want to get to 60 and start raiding because raiding is completely different than levelling. but the campaign is literally the same thing as maps except you play the maps in a pretty much fixed order
Lots of negativity towards OP, but honestly, I think they have a good point. I don't mind games being narratively driven, but it's kind of jarring, considering how sandboxy the end-game is. It's like playing 2 different games.

I think an Atlasy design to the campaign would have been a lot more fun. Like, maybe there's a grid of nodes, and you have to go from one node to another to progress the story. Maybe you don't need to do all the nodes, but just 4 out of 7 quest nodes to move on to the next act. That way, the campaign would have felt like the actual end-game that we are probably going to spend 95% of our time on.

I think another frustration is that the end-game gives you a lot of agency on what content you engage with. You can choose what bosses to fight, what tier waystones to run, what mods to run, what content to do (breach, expedition, etc). You don't have that in the campaign. Even in act 4, you must fight every single boss and area, before you can progress.

I'm not saying the campaign is not fun for some people. I just don't think it's made for the people the end-game is made for.

In summary, I agree with OP.

Did you miss countless replies from me where I mentioned that I am playing DS2. I spent 70+ hours in last two weeks playing literal walking simulator. Are you for real with the gen Z comments? I am speechless.
