Market gold sinks are a waste of player's time.

What the title says...
Player uses the market, expends hundreds of thousands of gold on it, and is forced to go out of his way to farm gold. Crappy loop imo. Remove gold fees from market (both currency and item purchases). edit - Also, respec fees are horrible as well. Why not allow players to try things out freely? Expensive respec fees forces me to stick to a build when I want to try other things out. Последняя редакция: Goratrix#1773. Время: 11 нояб. 2025 г., 12:09:19 Last bumped11 нояб. 2025 г., 12:02:39

" I feel like rather than remove it, making gold drops more common and plentiful in amount or reducing the amount for most materials is wise. Gold sink is smart but in my opinion too punishing in some aspects. “In all the realms of heaven and in all the realms of hell I alone am heralded as the honored one, who am I?” Последняя редакция: Lore#3772. Yes, that could be another route, as long as it actually helps keeping up with market fees.. As long as players don't have to go out of their way to target farm gold.
The below are the current gold farms I'm aware of and tell ALL take away from you doing "regular atlas runs": 1 - Castaway map: I'm new to the endgame Atlas buy I have opened a good chunk of my map and I'm yet to see the castaway map. Bottomline is, I don't want to have to be on a discord buying map runs in order for me to make gold. 2 - Selling crap using omen of gambling: playing a numbers game in the hideout selling currency is far from a fun activity. 3 - vendor selling. All not peak content in my opinion and taking away from having an enjoyable gaming experience. |

Gold as a currency has always been a problem in games of this style, as it requires arbitrary sinks to make it relevant. This was the founding theory for PoE to not have gold as a currency, and instead have consumable currency items. It's a shame GGG decided to go against this design theory and reintroduce the same old issue.
The solution is simply to remove gold from the game, as it causes the aforementioned issue and also makes no sense in lore (all our characters should be infinitely rich after Act 3). Path of Exile existed for a decade without any money in the game. Any system that requires a payment could be handled with consumable currencies. Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

I think the gold cost is a great design to be honest. I can't fathom how it's possible to run out. I know it's scarce early game, in the campaign and so forth, which is intentional so we can't just buy top gear right away, losing the sense of progress and challenge. I still trade, but I don't dau trade for small currency gains. Is that how people keep running out? I'm sitting on 15 million gold currently. And spent 4.5 million on 2 perandus strongboxes, and have done a full tree respect, and lots of smaller ones. Clearly I'm doing things differently to many others, cause I don't see how you can run out of gold if you play the game normally, like mapping.

" Agreed. I had to come back here because I forgot to mention another BIG issue. It came to light because I want to do a full passive tree reset and it's going to cost me 500k, lol. I don't think I'm alone on this one, I dig trying things out, testing builds, changing things out for fun... sometimes I can't just because i'm broke on gold. Yeah, gold sinks sucks! " I've ran out a couple times. Examples of situations that happened to me: I got to the endgame with a couple hundred k gold, got my first couple divines and had to trade them for exalts in order to start trading/crafting, it cost me in average 150k gold to trade 1 divine. On top of that every item purchase I made in the market cost me in average 20-30k. Then I respec'd a couple times which also cost a few hundred k gold. I get what you are saying, if you play endgame for a while you will eventually build up, but I rather you could start trading, respec'ing etc, without going broke way earlier. I'm lvl 88 now and i finally made 1 mil after grinding nonstop. Like I mentioned above I'm about to respec, there goes half of my gold. I also need exalts at the moment... there goes another 150k... I'm sure I can build it back up but how long am I still going to play this character? Not sure. |

1 of those gambling strong boxes can cost up to like 2-4 mil xD plz make gold easier to get
|
|
" And that 2 mil cost is only for the last attempt after the cost went up a few times by factor x10. Nobody is forcing you to open it. It is a gamba mechanic for those who wish to gamble and I think in my 1000h of PoE2 I never got a single divine drop from the Ventors boxes and I always opened the 2 mil aswell. In further leagues I will just skip the 2 mil stage since it's simply not worth the gamble and the gold has a higher value. |

The whole fucking "game" is made to waste a players time.

its a game, you're wasting time as it is?
Gameplay Loop: play game -> earn gold -> trade what you're asking is just: trade -> trade how will trade bots be slowed down then? Последняя редакция: tdonov5#2743. Время: 11 нояб. 2025 г., 06:59:07
