You can get an idea of general direction, and this should not make you feel "like a sad noob".

You can get understanding of core mechanics. Improve your ability to see which stat is useful and to what extend. And from there continue developing your character.

Even if you think that you know the path, walking it step by step feels much different. And the whole process "from zero to hero" is quite enjoyable.

If you do not want to play the same builds, then do not. See why they work. Understand it. Apply it to something else you like.

But if you go on your own, trying to figure out every single mechanic by testing? And you end up doing white maps?...

This should make you feel sad. This is what you want to avoid.

So many people complain about this game, and all of them complain because they fail at the same step.
