The biggest obstacle to balance and build diversity.

Is this really the case? Sure it is in PoE 1, but people generally don't put a lot of points into flat increased damage in PoE 2 tree, and the ready availability of increased damage is much lower. If this is a problem in PoE 2 at all, it stems from dumb items like Rathpith that give 500% increased damage for "free".

Not only that, supports in PoE 2 tend to be very lackluster, so it's not like you have 5 different support gems in a skill all giving +40% more damage each.

I feel like there is a bit of "cargo cult" thinking going on here where people may if anything be overvaluing more damage in PoE 2 because it was so good in PoE 1, while in reality a lot of people are running around with an amount of % increased that doesn't make more that much better than increased. Same can't be said for attack speed/skill speed though.

hi! great post, as always.

my vote is to (before we throw out the baby with the bathwater) remove the top 2 tiers of modifier to give the multipliers less base damage to multiply off, see how that feels and take it from there.

everyone in this thread is onto something. I agree with a lot of what people are saying

It certainly is. And it's not only for damage either. Even a single such multiplier can wildly throw off any semblance of balance.

One such example I can give that I directly experienced myself was the more multiplier on immobilisation in tactician ascendancy.

Moreover, I have indeed been able to cram skills full of more multipliers on everything I've played so far.

Support gems are already being power crept close to PoE1 levels and we are only in 0.4 so far. If this keeps going scaling is going to be toast. Lineage supports are cool, but I really hope GGG calms down with these numbers before the game-play becomes unsalvageable.

Maybe the wording I've used is not quite correct, what I meant was these kind of ways of scaling that use one type of stat to give another benefit at the same time:

Which results in these kind of things:

"Falcon Dive now grants 1% Attack Speed per 400 Accuracy Rating, up to 20%. The node now grants 4% increased attack speed as well"

Seems like devs agreed with me on this one. The syntagm "up to.." needs to become more common.

Very good point. Atalui's Bloodletting comes to mind immediately when thinking of this, but not only. I wish lineage supports just changed how skills work rather then give ridiculous power scaling.

Edit: Talking of, they changed this one too.

"Atalui's Bloodletting Lineage Support now grants 2% extra Physical damage per 20 Life cost (previously per 10 life cost), up to 40%, and no longer has a cost multiplier."
