Get rid of combos, build + spenders and downsides and POE2 might get really good.

After thinking about the last 3 leagues experiance and watching the last announcement-stream I want to point out the 3 most worse features that kill the fun in POE2:

1. combos. Just please forget about that.
2. Build x of an ressource + spend it and reapeat. Worst ever gameplay-idea and you triple down on it.
3. Downsides on the tree is really bad out of a psychology point of view. I look at POE2 and always think "how can you do that to players?"

Without those painpoints it would be more like POE1 probably and could have the chance to get the best game ever being played.

GGG has different direction apparently.

It may be hard to see at this stage, as they seem to started a bit too close to poe1 than they anticipated.
But we are getting there.

I recommend to play poe1 if you like poe1. Full 4 months league. Just like we, whom like poe2 and don't like poe1, play 4 months of poe2.

"More like PoE 1" is not a win here.

If I'd want that easy-peasy zoomy dopamine crap, I'd go play PoE 1.
No thanks.

My trained dog can play PoE 1 with every build mashing 1 button to screen clear.

I like combos, I like engaging combat that keeps me entertained, on my toes, actually playing the game and fighting. 0.4. is a step in right direction, finally.

Enjoy PoE 1 man, you clearly prefer that style.
There's nothing wrong with combos, generator/spender type of mechanic, or even downsides to your character. All of these can work perfectly fine, and be enjoyable if paired with a balanced game and appropriate enemies.

POE 2's biggest problem is the 1:1 implementation of POE 1 enemy behavior. Enemies in POE have one simple rule: swarm the players as fast as possible and overwhelm them. You have no time to think to counter them, you either blow them up before they get top you or you die. As you can obviously deduce, combos are useless in such a scenario, because time spent not doing damage is a step closer to dying.

So instead of killing combos and such, they should redesign how enemies work. And if that slows the game down, so be it. We already have a brain dead dopamine frying game and that's POE 1, POE 2 should be different.
Combos could be good but most of the skills would need a complete rework and the design philosophy completely changed. Looking at the new beast skills some of them have multiple resource requirements, using rage and glory, or rage and power charges. As soon as I see that nonsense I know I'm never touching that skill.

Baked in synergies and requirements should be removed, resource generating and spending conditions should be moved to supports and passives, allowing players to build their own synergies. Round it out by adding more utility and mobility skills allowing for natural flowing combos, and your all set. Game of the year guaranteed, you'll win an oscar.

you are incorrect on all accounts. why remove depth from the game when you can balance it?

1 & 2. for example: balance (easier said then done ofc :D) generators so they wipe out garbage monsters in a single hit or two, a rare in 5-10 hits or a boss in 50-100 hits or use a spender that does 2-3 times as much damage, now you choose.

3. it can't be all upsides if you want cool shit! why are you advocating for a bland tree?

2. Is this against GGG's vision? If yes how do you know, and are you the sole arbiter of who decides what's against the vision and what isn't?

3. Is this more like PoE1 or PoE2? Why or why not?
