New Incinerate changes
|
I'm confused about this incredibly verbose patch note, need some fellow incinerate enjoyers to translate.
Incinerate: Now additionally deals 11.1 Fire Damage per second at Gem level 1, scaling to 57.5 Fire Damage per second at Gem level 20. Ignited Ground duration is now 8 seconds (previously 4). Now has Ignites from a single use of this Skill Compound if not from Ignited Ground. Quality now grants 20% more Ignite duration (previously ignite magnitude). Now gains 7-2 milliseconds of fuel per Mana spent (previously 10-5). Now can store up to 5 seconds of fuel (previously 10 seconds). No longer has multiple maximum stages or deals 30% more damage per stage. No longer has 50% Less Ignite duration. No longer has Inflicts 80% less Flammability Magnitude. Now ignites as though dealing 16 to 24 Fire damage at Gem level 9 (previously 80-120), scaling to 83 to 124 Fire damage at Gem level 20 (previously 414-622). Incinerate Fuel can no longer be gained while using Incinerate. Incinerate ignites every 75ms, this will be described on the skill gem in a future patch shortly after 0.4.0. Key points I notice 1. Spell now has 57.5 base fire damage per second. >Not sure how big this will be. 2. "Ignites not from ignited ground 'Compound' >Does this mean multiple ignites stack together into one? 3. Maximum fuel nerfed from 10 to 5 seconds. >That sounds like it's going to make fuel even more annoying, the whole point of the skill is to enjoy flame handing people, now we have less flame hand. 4. No longer has multiple stages and 30% more damage per stage > It previously had what, 8 stages? so that's a 240% more multiplier lost? will the other aspects be able to bring even close to that amount of damage? 5. No longer has 50% less ignite duration, 80% less flammability magnitude. >Less duration means maybe the intention is to just spray and run? the flammability magnitude I'm unsure how it effects it. It's been a bit since I read up on it, but if 'compound' is stacking ignites, then higher flammability on the tree+no debuff to magnitude would potentially reap back the damage? I don't know. Kindly asking someone smarter than me to chime in so I can better understand the changes. Edit: Why have so many of you co-opted my thread to talk about unrelated shit. I asked about Incinerate, not about Lightning arrow/lightning spear or how much GGG wants you to play X/hates your build. Please just answer my question logically about Incinerate numbers and math wise. Последняя редакция: AetherSolace#2274. Время: 12 дек. 2025 г., 07:46:17 Last bumped12 дек. 2025 г., 07:44:44

It had 12 stages so that's 360% more damage lost. Now you have to stack ignite on each mob separately. This means it'll be much worse for clear.

TL;DR: 'lightning is way too OP so we will nerf fire skills, you're welcome."
This is, sadly GGG'sodus operandi. If aomething is OP, they will nerf the complete opposite. So yea, without complicatimg explanations and numbers, Incimerate is nerfed. Последняя редакция: lupasvasile#5385. Время: 11 дек. 2025 г., 03:38:26

" That's all you need to know. |

Lighting is getting some really heavy nerfs in its ability to scale.

GGG killed the skill with a 96% reduction with a 0.7% of users of the skill.
Make no sense. dunno, they really want people to play ruthless 2.0 with poe2 as far i can tell |

The nerf to this makes no sense. The skill was clunky as is and took some serious effort to really make it work and feel good at the same time. I would love to be in the room when they came up with this brilliant idea.

So the way it worked before was you channelled it and it constantly reapplied a very short ignite that got stronger the long you channelled.
The way I understand it works after this is it stacks the ignites instead of increasing the base damage. This means you no longer have to channel for a long time to get proper value. You can stop, dodge an attack then start again without losing all your build up. Is it a buff or nerf overall? Not sure. It wasn't great before. I doubt the intent was a nerf but instead updating it to work with the new stacking system they made which is also used by the wyvern fire breath. I would say nerf moaning would be premature and the result of lesser cognitive capacity. |

I know this is a thread about Incinerate but how do you all feel about Ignite buffs in general? Last patch, I did some leveling with Incendiary Shot/Rapid Shot and I can't say much about how effective Ignite is as a status debuff as a whole but it felt underwhelming. Due to the nature of crossbow's merging shots, the base damage and Ignite damage would be higher if you merged all shots onto one target. This means shooting enemies at point-blank range with Incendiary Shot. I didn't have a problem with Flammability since Ignite seemed to proc within 1 shot on mobs and only a couple on bosses but the damage was still terrible after increases to damage and Ignite magnitude in the skill tree and minmaxing gear. Gear wasn't a problem because the build I switched to it from was stacked with phys damage anyway. I tried Ignite from Explosive Rounds too and the Ignite was also lackluster.
Permafrost Bolts was just orders of magnitude better. Is Ignite worth trying again in 0.4? I only play SSF and it is my duty as one to inform you of my status. Последняя редакция: SoFaux#7759. Время: 11 дек. 2025 г., 10:00:21
