We need D4 Level Cinematics

POE 2 absolutely blows Diablo IV away where it actually counts, with far deeper combat, better build variety, and systems that respect the player’s time and intelligence, but the one area where it still feels behind is cinematics and story presentation; the lore is clearly strong, yet most of it is hidden in text and easily missed, and adding more cinematic moments or clearer narrative beats for key events would go a long way toward making the world feel as impactful as the gameplay, especially for new players, without taking anything away from what already makes the game great.

Cinematics is all that Blizzard has. Let them have this one.
if that means less investment into the game, then no.

i prefer my druid better animated than my horse getting stuck inside town
Cinematics are a one-time dopamine rush, you wow once and you move on to the actual game, such short term content is not worth a priority and a huge budget on such a small studio. Blizzard has always been exceptionnal for this but in the end, they failed because their games are terrible nowadays, cinematics doesn't necessarily make good games. Priority should always be gameplay.

Please no!

we need budget for gameplay, not f. cinematics.
gameplay trailers are best.
Better trailers would be cool, but not cutscenes if that's what you mean.

gameplay is better with d4 than poe2.
all you do with poe2, is watch animations finish and dodge roll.

d4 added a great campaign and always do cinematics but the game was dead and hollow after that.

cost time and money to do cinematics.

if poe2 give us poe movement it be great but atm its not really

^That's bait.
The intro cinematic we have with Geonor trapping Sin is pretty good. One of my favourite aspects of it is that it really sets the tone for having Geonor as "the bad guy" that you work up to in act 1.

"The Count" ends up being much more than just some guy the NPCs are stirred up about because you get to see firsthand how "cold" and dangerous he is. There is a big difference between NPC dialogue that says "This guy killed my family, go get him for us!" and you, personally, witnessing how evil the guy is - and then having all of that NPC dialogue and environmental lore follow-up afterwards to build on-top of an established persona.

He's also the one reading the character "convictions" in the selection screen - there's some good effort made to really establish this guy as the "big bad boss".

When I contrast it to other act bosses like Jamanra, Tavakai, and Doryani, they are all pretty epic battles on their own, however, they don't really "hit" the same way that the Geonor fight does. I just don't really care that much about them and I think this is because the only thing building them up is some dialogue and environmental lore.

The Tavakai one is probably the next best one in the list for me because you interact with him throughout the act. I don't really know if I have an unbiased opinion for Doryani because I'm trying to ignore that because of poe1 I've been familiar with him for years.

I find myself really not caring about Jamanra though. He kind of just feels like a "bad desert lightning man" roadblock on the way to act 3, even though I think the fight itself at the end of act 2 is very good.

So in that way I think a great cinematic can really add a "je ne sais quois" element to a game when it's done right. In fact, I think it's a large part of the reason we look back so fondly on something like D2 - it made the game and it's narrative more impactful for us despite any limitations related to being a 25yr old PC game.

Those cinematics helped draw us into the D2 universe and I think there's something to be said about how good cinematics like that can enhance the overall impact of a game. Even though it doesn't directly affect gameplay, it can still make the gameplay feel more meaningful.

Naaaaaah. The reason we look back so fondly on D2 is because it was consistently in the top 5 most addictive gameplay loops for years. I don't even remember it HAVING cinematics, but I sure remember the farming and the Javezon and the Cube and the system-crashing Necromancer shenanigans. Gameplay will always trump cinematics. If you (royal you, not you personally) care that much about cinematics, then watch a movie, if you want to play a game, find a game with good gameplay.
