So.. If I do this are GGG going to take liability for any data loss or damages that purposefully downgrading software and re introducing known security vulnerabilities that are present in the older driver opens the user base up to?

Latest PoE2 patch and AMD drivers have been causing my system to crash entirely. Crashing started at Hunting Grounds and I was stuck there for quite some time.

But now, I'v finally managed to make some progress and get to Act 2, after doing a bunch of amd driver reinstallation and cleanup.

Here's what you can do if anyone else is having issues with game/computer crashing:

These instructions are for AMD GPU users only (I have 9070 XT)
1. VERY IMPORTANT - Stop Windows Update from updating your drivers.
- CTRL + R -> sysdm.cpl -> Hardware tab -> Device installation settings -> Choose No and Save

2. Download Adrenalin 25.8.1 version drivers from AMD website (don't install yet)
- Any newer drivers caused my system to crash with Poe2. I tried multiple different versions.

3. Download DDU from the internet
4. Boot into Safe mode (Hold shift and click Restart computer) and run the DDU in the safe mode environment. Search the internet if you are not sure how to boot into safe mode.
5. Use DDU to uninstall and cleanup AMD Gpu drivers
6. Important! Unplug your network cable before you boot back to normal windows (or disconnect wifi)
7. Boot back to normal windows and install the AMD GPU Drivers you downloaded previously
8. Plug network cable back in (or connect wifi) and reboot
9. Delete all shader cache files:
- Navigate to %username%\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2 and delete the shader folders
- Just in case, delete shaders via amd adrealing software as well (gaming -> graphics -> scroll to the bottom and click reset shader cache)
10. Use DX12 in Poe2 graphics settings

If you don't stop windows from automatically installing/updating your drivers, you'll end up with unstable driver version.

Hopefully ggg releases a fix soon so that we can use the latest amd version.

From what i've seen so far POE2 is the only game that has this issue.

I have a feeling it has to do with the iGPU drivers (yes they are separate). You can check the driver versions in adrenaline software. This is why when updating to the latest adrenaline version and driver you still get the error message. The iGPU driver does not get updated and is on the version from the ingame message.

I have tried to completely disable the iGPU but it did not help.

For now just changing from Vulkan to DX12 has fixed the issues for me. Changing it ingame was crashing the entire game, so I did it from the config file.

Poe2 folder under documents\my games -> poe2_production_Config.ini
renderer_type=Vulkan -> renderer_type=DirectX12

I still get the driver version message when launching the game, but at least it seems to function normally again and I can play. Still on the newest driver version.

Also downgrading the drivers to such an old version is unacceptable. Fix please.

The wording of the message is awful. It's not suggesting you to rollback the driver, it more or less demanding it.

I wonder how much time GGG had tested with the new driver(s); or tested them and was unable to fix them before launch.

I edited the config file to use DX11. It works but seems to do upscaling occassionally and display is choppy.

Probably will skip this patch/league unless this issue is fixed quickly.

Back to POE 1 and trying to grind some good loot, which seems impossible now-a-days: Did a 160% quality 8 mod T16 map and all I got was one single Exalt Orb. Sigh.

It's an AMD problem. If you notice, GPU driver updates tend to come out around bigger game releases. They are a smaller team and always late.

It's an AMD problem. If you notice, GPU driver updates tend to come out around bigger game releases. They are a smaller team and always late.

AMD drivers was fine in 0.3 before game was updated to 0.4. It's not an AMD problem, if GGG updated they're engine and didn't tested it, didn't fix it - it's their problem.

Open the file called poe2_production_Config.ini in Notepad.
Look for this line:
renderer_type=Vulkan
Change it to:
renderer_type=DirectX12

That’s it. No DDU, no clean installs, no losing RSR or FSR. I’ve been playing smooth ever since.

This isn’t an AMD problem — it’s a PoE2 Vulkan bug introduced in 0.4. The fact that switching APIs fixes it proves that. GGG needs to stop deflecting and actually patch their game.

So a few ppl posted some "fixes" which requires you to do all this work around to play? Nah im not doing all that crap to play the game or rollin back my drivers. I knew they would have an issue like they do every season but this one i hope gets fixed very soon. Im going to try it on ps5 pro and see how it runs but wont be doing any driver rollbacks thats just bs imo.

I'd like to add my voice to the choir on this one, GGG, kindly fix the issue preventing use of current drivers on your end.
