Enough Already: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of POE2
First off, I love GGG as a whole and love POE and POE2. I've been playing on and off since POE alpha so while I'm not the most hardcore player/streamer on Earth, I do have years of playing the ups and downs. I'm already done with POE2 for this league. There is just zero reason to go through the slog again. Luckily, the future is bright overall.
Either way, let's dive in. THE GOOD * The graphics, sound, animation, music, combat, level design, etc are just fantastic. 10/10 here * I love that there are similarities to POE but it also feels like a more challenging, totally different game * Hideouts, cosmetics, instant buyout market etc all are wonderful as well * Druid is amazing overall with lots of potential * Act I and the boss are probably one of the best if not thee best act in any ARPG, ever. It's amazing. THE BAD * The new Vaal league has potential but overall it's a lot of trouble for very little reward * Having to play a meta build every league to get very far into the game is not fun at all. Why as so many classes/skills/builds just near worthless? They can't all be "the best" but you've seen the data, many classes and builds aren't touched by players at all. THE UGLY * The campaign (act II and III especially) and trials are absolute torture. They are not fun. They are not rewarding and we have zero desire to do them every league. With 1.0 still so far off, this needs fixing ASAP * Why is the currency so far out of whack compared to POE? Why is it nigh impossible to find certain currency? * Why are uniques worthless after low levels? Why are ARPG designers so afraid to make GOOD even scaled uniques? It takes all the fun out of finding loot and just hunting for currency instead SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT * Overhaul the Vaal temple to make it easier to unlock a run, buff rewards and stop deleting rooms * Offer campaign, skip or adventure mode to level before mapping ASAP. We aren't here the campaign after completing it once. Drop your pride and stubbornness * Put ascendancies behind a different gate, any gate. Trials are HORRID * Buff classes/skills little to no players are running. I don't want to use a Ranger or Blood Mage every league to be powerful * Offer an automatic currency exchange that doesn't require the market. Let us trade across all the options Последняя редакция: Digitalforce#0207. Время: 17 дек. 2025 г., 13:00:25 Last bumped17 дек. 2025 г., 15:20:13

If you skip your character’s progression then what’s the point in playing an ARPG? You want to play with premade characters?
" I think you dont understand Character Progression especially in Path of Exile. Many people actually start building their character properly when tehy finished Campaign not during the Campaign. When you go for harder Bosses and faster map completion and well dmg number goes up. “The bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame.”

" What you’re describing is not a typical ARPG experience where your character starts weak and gradually gets stronger. From what I understand you want to completely skip that part and start running the endgame treadmill. Which is fine I suppose but that’s just not what ARPG’s are about. |

" we want char progression not chore "get this go back do 10km and come back" also progression? at season start u play with the same 1 item for 10 20 even 30 levels where is the progression? why suddenly at act 4 u are already a god? https://www.twitch.tv/taitosage

" I see where you are coming from but did you read my suggestion? For all the negative it had in it, Diablo III did it right with adventure mode. I didn't want to play through the campaign yet again to get to endgame so I would just adventure mode through the later seasons. The campaign is still there but it's already a massive slog, especially Act 3, already in 0.4 - Imagine by 0.9 or 1.0. Yikes. In the end, it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Have OPTIONS for people to reach end game. |
" Yeah, I think options are good. But if they gave you a campaign skip today. Be honest, do you think that would be fun for you? |
" Yes thats what OP is asking for a campaign skip, but that doesnt mean u dont have character progression. The progression u get through campaign is rather minor. I mostly use 2-3 skills during campaign and thats it. There isnt really any progression except changing the occasional equipment item. Which is mostly just the weapon. “The bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame.” Последняя редакция: Alzucard#2422. Время: 17 дек. 2025 г., 13:34:21

" Sigh. Once again, I don't PREFER a skip, I'd rather had adventure mode or randomized levels a la Diablo III adventure mode that levels me up AS AN OPTION. If I want to go through campaign on league too, cool. Options = everyone wins. Being stubborn and making everyone slog through the same long campaign every league = torture. |
" I think it depends on the way you play. If you speedrun the campaign, I doubt you’re going to have any meaningful character progression during that time. But if you don’t speedrun it then you’re definitely having meaningful progression. I’m playing it right now. Having said that, I do think the balance is a bit off and GGG should make it a bit more challenging so it feels more impactful. Especially the early acts. Anyway, the thing you guys are not saying is if you get a skip button. Would that be enough for you? Would starting at Atlas iat lvl1 be fun? |
