Why bother adding spell totem when you can't use it?

3 power charges to use was certainly a choice....

I tested it. Even if it didn't cost 3xpower charges, it's still bad. Cast speed very low and both targeting range and direction is poor.

Spell Totems are the biggest troll GGG added in this game.
Tati has a build but that build is so FORCED and if you played spark without Totems, you'll do better. Playing Totems is just nerfing yourself. |

Ye, its really sad.. Totem and trap builds were always my favourite in poe1. This addition of spell totems is just an insult, its like giving someone a nice car and then say you can only drive at 5 mph for 5 minutes every hour.
It feels quite obvious that they dont want theese kinds of builds in the game but felt forced to add it anyway due to popularity. Then gimping it hoping people wouldnt use it and move on.. Like i said its just sad and frankley spiteful. |

I didn't tried it but are those totems that bad ? I mean the power/endurance charges can be easily fixed by being Oracle + Voll's Protector so I guess the problem isn't that. What make them so bad ? I know for example that apparently the Melee Totem (Ancestral Warrior Totem) have a hidden "CD" on its attack making AS so much worse for example. Does the Spell Totem suffer such hidden draw back as well ?

"I didn't played spell totems (and I love it from poe1) because I don't know how to "easyly fix" the generation of power/endurance charges. If I wish to base my playstyle on totems, this means I DON'T WANT to hit by myself to generate charges. It's a fact. In poe1 the main totem node says "you will not do damage by yourself" and it's fine. In poe2, you need charges and, if you pick the keystone, 75 spirit per totem. It's abusive. A friend mine says: well, the corrupted redflare bodyarmour + keynode that converts power charges to endurance charges. Ok... a body armour that costs.... a lot divines is the unique way to play a common playstyle? and taking nodes from the opposite side of the passive tree? It's not viable. The voll's protector method... sorry, don't see how it could help to passively generate the mandatory charges In PoE2 seems the totems are planned as being an extra support of your main skill, and pure totem players will complain this mechanic while the charges are mandatory Cerotin#5926, your description of the new car to explain spell totems is awesome.
