What's happening when Anarchy/Onslaught leagues end?

GGG, You guys have done right by me in so many other ways that I thought we were on the same page about game design. Seriously, what are you thinking with this step?

Limited run VISUALS on an item are fine by me... but limiting a specific item is horribly frustrating to me as a player. I was debating upgrading to divine, but this is making me strongly question the long term direction the game is headed. I'd appreciate it if one of you guys would post a response (individual post would be better) explaining your design intent and goals for legacy items.

You can either think of it as a showcase for your characters and gear or a graveyard for your dead (hardcore) characters.

I guess if you really wanted to, you could use it as a playground to try out whacky new builds with overpowered gears or something, but imho, the real game is based in leagues such as Anarchy and Onslaught - and whatever comes next.

Just think... every 4 months a completely fresh economy with new items, new rules and a new ladder (for those that care about such things). Standard league on the other hand will just continue to fill up with all of Piety's mis-experiments until it looks like the blockage in the Act III sewers.

For the majority of players legacy items will not matter at all.
