Starbound (Terraria style game)
Thought I'd post this since this is the first in game video I've seen besides the water mechanics one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU56Kh731Q0&feature=player_embedded Website http://playstarbound.com/ I hope this is as good if not better than the brilliant Terraria.Terraria despite being based partly of Minecraft had a unique feel to it,I hope this can add to what worked in Terraria. I think I'm appreciating the Indie scene more and more now with so many great titles that are superior to commercial offering(talking gameplay not graphics). Последняя редакция: Kavlor#3571. It really annoys me when any 'block-based' game is immediately compared with minecraft. While the comparison is unavoidable I think Terraria is far superior to it. Starbound looks great, hopefully they will role out a beta soon enough.
I agree 100% with the indie scene being far more intriguing now. There are games coming from there that can easily contest with AAA games in terms of enjoyment and graphical fidelity. Do you not think the graphics in games like Trine and Magicka could rival larger games companies? People seem to think there is a set standard for graphics when really it depends on the game. The look of the game is crucial to what it is trying to be. Retro city rampage has 'terrible' graphics according to some people. To me, it seems like it is the perfect choice for what the game is supposed to be :D |

Since Terraria was one of my all-time favourites, and this... planets and space and differing things and capturing things and science and trees and building and gravity and difficulty and SO MUCH INTRIGUE
This has got me some hype indeedy it has Anyhow, the graphics of a game should barely matter. Sometimes graphics can be core to a game's mechanics, and I'm inevitably going to cough *minecraft* here because it's the first example to mind. As a game, it would barely function if it was to strive for realism. Pixels have charm, and all that jazz. Although, I must say, I can't remember the last time I even played a recent triple-A game "Yes, mother ****ing walruses stormed in through my well room, fatally gored my expedition leader, and danced off into the frosty tundra to sing happy walrus songs about oysters." - veok
