onyx amulet +17 worth upgrading to rare?

but in general yeah, why not see if you can roll some other useful mods. you will always be able to find other orbs if this crating doesn't turn out so good.

Yea man if you got the alc orbs to do it .... I've been trying for a + 20 myself to upgrade cause once.you hit cruel every little bit of res counts.... I know some classes have to travel a little bit just to get res nodes of like 8 or 10

It only rolls mods up to your character level. Upgrading should never make an item unusable due to level requirements from what I've seen.

Incorrect. You can upgrade items above your level. However, Onyx won't go above 30 if he makes it a rare. It mostly applies to Iron Ring's, which are usually level 1, but if you make them magic can go as high as level 11.

Only if you are level 11 when you roll them though I believe. I have rolled level 20 gold rings, but only on level 20 characters, when I try on level 8 characters I only get level 8 gold rings. I've chanced a crapton of gold rings BTW.

Make a new character, run to town, don't level, take a default lower class ring and make it magic. It'll be higher than level 1 I promise you.

I think that's just an anomaly with very low level items due to the fact there is no level 1 affix for many mods so it just uses the lowest one bringing the item up a few levels.

I've used dozens of chances and transmutes and probably a hundred alts and have never gotten an item back above my character level, but I've never bothered trying on level 1s.

The higher your level the better mods you can roll on lower level items.

It won't be higher than the item level of the item, though, will it? And the OP said his amulet was item level 30 (i.e. dropped from a level 30 mob).
