Chronix Radio Aggression

So, are/were there any Chronix Radio Aggression listeners here? I used to listen to it every day in graduate school for years, and once I got a job I wasn't able to listen anymore (metal music isn't as appreciated in the corporate world as much as you'd think). Recently I've started to work from home and I've wanted to listen again, but it seems like the stream and site have been down.

I really like their specific playlist, probably since its the only metal music I've heard. So I'm wondering if there are any metal music fans out there who can recommend an online radio stream which is similar to Chronix. I've tried to listen to a few, but none of them seem to match up, which maybe is to be expected.

I am no metal music aficionado, so even if there are Chronix listeners out there if they could tell me the specific genre of music they played it might help me find a surrogate radio station. I'm not very familiar with the differences between "thrash" "gnu" "speed" etc...

If it helps, some of the groups they play that I really like are Lamb of God, Trivium, All That Remains, Mower, Mnemic, Chimera, Mudvayne, Killswitch Engage etc... Thanks a lot ahead of time, I really appreciate any help!

TL/DR: I love the metal radio station Chronix Aggression and I'm looking for advice on a replacement since it seems to be down.

Hi,
sorry I have the same problem. Just read on wikipedia that chronixradio
shut down cause of money problems.....
Never heard of it.

Probably not even close, but I listen to some of the dj's on XM38 (Ozzy channel) - some of them are pretty good. There are harder stations on XM, with there own dedicated dj's etc.
BLAMT!
Don't know what the guys at wikipedia are smoking, but i am listening to chronix RIGHT NOW.
Was not able to reach the stations for a while now, but today, via the link provided on wikipedia, the site is online and reachable.

The entry on Wikipedia is dead wrong. Sean had problems keeping the site up, and had to find a job. But for now, Chronix is running again.

Aaaaand here is the link:

PEACE
Nice! It is back up. For a while it was hit or miss if it was up, and/or if their main station was running. I really hope its up now for good. I've listened to 5+ radio stations on and off and none of them are even close to being as good.

Thanks for all of the replies. If anyone has any other good stations to recommend (just in case), please do.
Damn, now it is finally over...
Seems that last September, something happened (unknown to anyone), and now Chronix is gone.
That SUCKS.
Now i am too on the lookout for a decent replacement.
Hi,

my favorite alternative for chronix raio is New Normal Rock, http://www.newnormalrock.com/

Try it, it rocks :)
Thanks man!

A different mix, more Hard Rock/Heavy Rock than Metal here, but still the best replacement by far.
I still hope Sean just still needs to find a job. And Chronix finally returns from the dead!
Digging this one out:

Now New Normal Rock is down, too. Website closed and FB is "Radio silent" (yeah, im not very funny, i get that...).

Chronix down, NNR down, anyone a new suggestion quite similar to them?

Edit: At least Chronix is, i kid you not, somehow BACK. Some guy from Canada raised it from the dead. Nothin official, but it's a start:

Still looking for an alternative though.

I literally signed up here due to this Chronix thread (but who knows, maybe I found a new game?!). I was a longtime listener ever since I first found it on iTunes radio way back in the day, and honestly most of my music collection I actually like was thanks to hearing it there. I really liked the non-mainstream playlist, and even bought a hoodie from them (yeah, I know, I should have donated to keep them alive... still remember those commercials). It really got me through college homework, which seems pretty similar to your experiences.

Poking around on the still up (but mostly non-functional) website, I found this; apparently it was the last few songs played:
http://www.chronixradio.com/stations/chronixaggression/playing.html

Playing with that, I came up with their playlist (also for the Metal station), which I promptly downloaded and will be looking through to find anything I enjoy (right off the bat, Minus - At the Scene is a song I remember):
http://www.chronixradio.com/stations/chronixaggression/playlist0.html
http://www.chronixradio.com/stations/cxrmetal/playlist0.html

Now about the chronixradio.radio.net one, I'm really glad you posted it. It really does seem like they revived it from the few songs I've heard, I just hope it lasts. The station logo is identical to an image that was used on the short lived Android app before the station went down, and I've never seen it anywhere else, so it's promising! The dude's website (http://www.tuckmast.com) is hard to navigate through, but shows that it is available on Spotify, which if true (I'm in Germany now and can't test it without setting up my VPN that I don't have time for at the moment), is pretty cool since the app can cache the music.

In the meantime, I found a pretty cool radio station that kinda-sorta fills the void, but they definitely have a different sound... they do have occasional live DJs (or at least pre-recorded programs) and IIRC, they let bands take over for a while and run the show, but I could be wrong. They're part of some alternative station that is apparently pretty popular, so hopefully they stay up. They never ask for donations or anything, so that's a good sign! Besides the website, they are available on TuneIn, iTunes Radio, and Shoutcast... Ignore the Idobi Radio app; it only plays their alternative station. You can download the .pls from Shoutcast and run it through VLC or something similar as well (something I did frequently with Chronix).
Idobi Howl: http://idobi.com/radio/howlplayer/

I'm a pretty good researcher (thanks Chronix for all those obscure songs!) and found the guy who ran the site, or at least that the donation P.O. Box was based out of Bailey, Colorado (near-ish to Denver) while one of the super common commercial voices (Jay Shields; he's on LinkedIn with Chronix listed as a job) is based out of Denver. I've definitely heard at least one of the Idobi Howl "DJs" refer to Colorado, so I'm wondering if there's a connection... it's pretty interesting at least.

Edit: I guess the image used is on the Chronix Aggression Facebook page, so maybe they pulled it from there. Anyway, dude's website links to Radionomy, which has a link to the m3u stream that can be used with random players: http://listen.radionomy.com/chronixradio-.m3u.
