and if it does, is it worth using increased/decreased area of effect??

and is this a good spectre for my zombies or is just going a high damage spectre better

It most certainly does, it affects both their proximity shield and their area spell.
Increased duration does affects their shield, now that shield duration got nerfed it's actually better than ever.

It's probably worth it but I can't really say it without playing your char, best to try and see.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Actually their damage is quite high,and it's physical (read noresistant by majority of mobs). The only competitors imho are tittyguns.
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.
Evangelists make awesome spectres.

They bring utility through their shield, and now with the new Convocation skill, you can easily regroup them on yourself when you need said shield.

They bring a big amount of AoE physical damage, and can clear mobs really fast. Also, they work well with Vulnerability, which also helps your zombies and skellies do more damage (contrary to elemental spectres like the ribbons for instance, where you have to choose Elemental weakness over Vulnerability for increased damage).

They are very resilient, both due to their shield and their being ranged mobs. I rarely lose any, and when I do, it's always because of some boss or big AoE invade that would have wiped out any spectre i would have had anyway. I don't use any defensive minion support gem on them (the combo I use is Spectre+Increased AoE+Faster Casting+Minion Damage).

Non negligible bonus: they are easy to grab, provided you have the Sceptre of God waypoint; use Desecrate at the waypoint, and you will get them in no time.

You might want to consider using Faster Casting on top of Increased AoE , since it will enable your evangelists to cast their spells (offensive AoE AND shield) more often ! Also, Flesh Offering is simply ridiculous with them (but then, it is ridiculous with almost all spectres) :D

Exactly what Ravachol said. Evangelists are awesome Spectres. The 4 link he mentions works wonders. The only difference I make with a 4 link is using Remote Mine instead of Minion Damage when I make my first round of them when I log in (They very rarely ever die, even in 77 maps). With my 5 link I add Minion Damage or if I feel like guaranteeing they won't die: Increased Duration. I rarely use Inc. Duration, but will when I go to start fighting Atziri.
i have a quesiton about it

is increased area of effect worth it? Wouldn't it make it easier for enemies to hit me since the circles bigger?

this is oneo f the concerns I have.

Also, are there any other very good spectres with a similar support style role. Like do "raises skeletons" monsters raise skeletons when spectered?

also, what would you use for a green slot? my helm atm is b/b/g/r

wjhat would u use for red if its not increased duration?

Good question and I don't know how to answer it. I would just say that I don't use it personally ; my combo is spectre, faster casting, minion damage, remote mine, added fire damage.

As for your combo, just go with added fire if you don't want increase duration.
