POE Split Fun Not As Fun, Science.

Ambush / Invasion.

Seems the theme of POE is every 4 months, reveal new content/leagues by taking the fun things they create, and splitting them in Two leagues.

Invasion + strongboxes = obviously more fun than invasion, OR strongboxes.

Why do this Split The Fun stuff?

imagine other games doing this.

Diablo 2 as an example as it was an inspiration for this game.

Diablo 2 could have had 1 League for runewords, and hardcore.

another league for Set items but no runewords, and softcore.

would anyone have said "GREAT idea Diablo 2, I'm glad you split runewords away from set items and put them on different leagues!!!".

no, they would have yelled at the developers and said "what the heck were you thinking, PUT ALL THE FUN ON 1 LEAGUE, NOW !!!!!!"

i'm exaggerating their response but Diablo 2 would have been WORSE that way, not better.

SO, is POE BETTER for splitting strongboxes from invasion? Nope.

Is POE worse for doing this? Yup.

PLEASE GGG, start reconsidering your plan of splitting fun into two leagues. While you still have time, before you do it again next league(s).

It lowers the maximum fun we could be having.

I get the reasoning behind doing it your way, but would it really hurt to have two leagues the same EXCEPT one is hardcore one is softcore? Is your way really better? I can't think of a single game where it would be better to do things this way. Not 1. Including POE.

Invasion + strongboxes = better.

It will be the same next leagues, worse, no matter what you're splitting in two.

doing it the current way it almost feels like i'm on a test server, for the inevitable merging of the two leagues, for the league after that.

2 fun things forced into different leagues from each other = not as fun.

I am so glad you make these posts. They are like wikipedia, full of matter of facts.

This scientist dude looks like guru of gamedesign. He should make his own game instead of wasting time discussing other games.

I'm glad they separated Ambush and Invasion for the 4 months leagues. Fact.

Keeping them separated allowed them to see the pros and cons of each new addition of the game without being influenced by the other addition. Having Ambush and Invasion together would have skewed the results. By looking at the data separately, they can then properly balance the new additions as they are migrated into the core game.

It seems like the OPs "science" is skewed by using too much of the rare radioactive elements opinium and bullshiterium.

I think he's just a big fan of 60s B movies where all sorts of absurdities were explained because Science.

I'm sure he does science every day, as a scientist, because doing science is what scientists do. Without science the scientist wouldn't have any science to perform and science as we know it just would be very scientific.
