IGN Features Path of Exile as "The Best Game You Don't Have To Spend A Penny On"

There is something uniquely endearing about this game though. You can't help but root for it.

you can make it homing,

Upcoming new support?!

Seriously, I was thinking about this while running errands the other day. You can do more to one skill in this game than you could with almost an entire skill tree in D2. Take Fireball, for example. You can add elements, you can split it, you can make it homing, you can alter its blast radius, you can affect its projectile speed, you can increase its chance to crit or inflicting burning damage...Sure, some of these might not lead to immediate power boosts but the point is, the options are there. In D2, you had...what? Firebolt. Fireball...uhm...and that's it, in terms of fiery projectiles. Meteor was something else, and I'd still argue Firestorm can be tweaked to completely outperform Meteor.

...But they're totally different games. Different eras. A better comparison would, of course, be TOG runes vs PoE support gems. One TOG rune can have a more dramatic effect on a base skill than five support gems, but then again we're losing the power of customisation beyond a single multiple choice.

This fact is part of why the quoted statement is true.

You can make a fireball homing? Damn. I need to take a closer look at the tree again. Where is that?
Thanks for all the fish!
its really difficult to play the game past a certain point without extra stash tabs.

Oh damn. I didn't realize the rest of the thread was asking the same question. Guess it does not exist. One can dream.
Thanks for all the fish!
I have some complaints about this game, but ya, it's by far the best ARPG out there right now and has been since open beta released. I haven't been playing as often, but I do try to do every race that I can do and I like the effort and creativity in this game and the devs are awesome.

a part the stash tabs, it's difficult to play with lass than 10 stash tabs, after 1 month of playing.

With 20 stash tabs maybe you can do near all the features of the game, like recipe, sell items, crafting, collect some items, run more characters, etc.

I have 10 stash tabs, I'm near okey but I don't collect items and I don't make the recipe chaos orb and craft items, I've 3 characters (all mages), but my economy is good.

Just because I dont know: What is TOG?

Also: How do I make my fireballs homing? That sounds awesome!

That Other Game

The game's design issues don't show until later, and most reviewers only play a few hours, or stop after normal difficulty.

I can't take reviews seriously that make mention of poor optimization and desync. It's fundamentally a good game, but I sometimes wonder how it would have been received if it had not been F2P.

People would expect it to have an offline mode then. It would be a fundamentally different game though since the online mode is pretty integral to the competitive aspect of PoE.
