I have steam bucks and want to use it to buy microtransactions how do I?
Hey kolyaboo,
Just confirming that you have downloaded Path of Exile through steam (aka, selecting 'play game' after searching for Path of Exile in the steam store and downloading the client through steam). Additionally, be sure to log onto Path of Exile on the Steam PoE Client (if you have not done this already) as there may be a verification issue here on Steam's end. This issue may occur if a direct payment has not been made on a freshly made Steam account. Unfortunately other than the above suggestions, this sounds like an issue we may not be able to help with. You may need to contact Steam Support with this issue and let them know that your Steam Wallet Funds is not being accepted as an option for this purchase. Need Support? support@grindinggear.com.

See, that's what I didn't do. I just added POE as a non steam game. But if I dl a copy of it thru Steam won't it over write my existing acct.? I'm scared of it.

" You need to go onto the website and link it to Steam. If it overwrites the account, send an email to support and they can fix the linking for you. As long as you haven't logged in VIA Steam (the STEAM version, not the web version linked in Steam) then it should be fine. Keep in mind that just because you put a game into Steam, doesn't mean it's USING Steam. That's just the launch mechanism. To actually play it THROUGH Steam, you have to add it to the Steam library from the Steam store, not from a local install. |

I think I see what you mean, but I don't want to screw it up.
If I don't login via Steam then how will I get the overlay that I need to move $$ from my wallet to PoE? Edited to add: I just went into Steam and removed it from my games list but then when I tried to dl it it says I already own it. Should I uninstall Steam and then wipe the registry keys and re install so it no longer knows I have it? Censored. Последняя редакция: kolyaboo#7295. Время: 27 июн. 2014 г., 20:50:25

just go to the Steam Store, search Path of Exile, then "add" it to your library.
Make sure you've linked your Steam account BEFORE you do all of this however. Just click your name at the top, go to Manage Account, then go to Steam. Once it is linked properly, then you should go to Path of Exile in your Steam library and verify the cache/installation. You'll know it is using Steam and works if it does NOT prompt you for an email address and password inside of the Path of Exile game. If it asks for email/password, then it's using the wrong client. |

OK, it's installing now. Won't I now have 2 copies of the game on my computer? I wonder why Steam is such a nuisance.
Edited to add: I already linked it on here to Steam yesterday when I was trying to get it to work so at least I don't have to worry about that. Censored. Последняя редакция: kolyaboo#7295. Время: 27 июн. 2014 г., 21:05:52

" Yes ... you will have 2 copies until you remove the Non-Steam version. Protip: Copy the PathOfExile.exe from the stand-alone install into the Steam install folder (if it isn't already there) and update your desktop shortcut to point to the Steam install for your "normal" Path of Exile shortcut as well. Just be SURE to ONLY patch through Steam. Never patch using the web/classic client. Never run PackCheck.exe on the Steam install, and never run the Content.ggpk defrag application. You MUST allow Steam to control everything in there or you can end up with issues playing through Steam. But then you only have one installation (Steam managed). Save yourself a little bit of wasted space. |
