Item Rarity support gem, need to be connected?

does it need to be connected in order to work? Since it doesnt modify skills like other support gems...
Also if it does, then it then only help with getting more rare items using that skill or skills that it is connected to? Cheers |

Actually, it does modify a skill. The bonus only applies to kills made with skills that the support gem it's linked to, exactly as you asked in the second paragraph.
