New Mob: Plumetting Ursa, the new Devourer

That's a pretty fat thread.

Have a question: these rabid ewoks dont seem to spawn in maps, not even on "inhabited by animals" ones. Any reasons for this? (tho they do spawn in master missions inside maps)

Havent been able to grasp their mechanics yet because of their ban from maps :(

You can't be blamed for not knowing this, but the PU wasn't Charan's first monster choice. Or the second. He submitted several creative designs to GGG. Every one was apparently too ambitious, and was turned down for one reason or another. The PU is a "Fuck it, let's get this over with" solution. Dun blame the man for taking what he could get, which was a simple, silly concept, responsibility for whose execution (no pun intended) lies almost entirely with the Devs. ='[.]'=

Ray comes in and in one fell swoop reks em all
Don't forget to drink your milk 👌
They are cool, but dropping out of nowhere (where there are no trees around) is cheesy as hell and should be removed.

You've got it all wrong they're plummeting from children's night terrors

Most of us, who are not from Australia (or that part of the world), do not know or understand what a "Dropbear / Drop Bear" is.

It would be wise for those who don't know, to go and do some research. Google it.

Many of us have heard of Nessie (Loch Ness monster), Yetis, Sasquatches, Abominable Snow Men, Chupacabra etc...

You can now add Drop Bears to the list and thank Charan for educating us.

I cant say i enjoy these new creatures. Besides the high crit rate, they arent anything to write home about. Just another group of monkey fodder. Nothing special.

Also they don't match the theme of the game all that well. Not a fan of a joke monster.

Only one of two things happen when i encounter them:

I desync back into them and get hit hard(then kill them easy) or....

I run past their dropping point and just turn around then blast them.

It's a shame he didn't take the opportunity to make something more worthwhile. Doesn't effect my game much but hopefully not a sign of the future designs.

That is quite honestly a bummer to hear all that. But at the same time i would never of taken the "fuck it lets get this over with" route. I would of kept trying as many times as it takes.I would be contributing to a game i love, as such i would want it to be meaningful. Perhaps such a thing is different in his eyes. Just how i see it.

I blame them both at this point. Him for losing his patience and honestly submitting what he admitted was a "joke" monster. And GGG for how they have been recently.

Actually I did choose the monster type, so I always knew they'd potentially be Devourer 2.0.

BUT they do make a warning noise, and there's time between that and their arrival, so if you keep moving, you should be okay.

Also, unlike devourers, when they kill you, because they WILL kill you, they roll around on the ground, silently laughing at your demise.

...:)

I'm yet to find anything slightly difficult about these. Maybe if I encounter them in lvl 70+ maps.

The idea of a koala going feral in Wraeclast is perfectly in accordance with GGG's vision of how the accursed continent functions, how it twists everything into nothing but a primal force of survival.

I expected a dragon
I love these terrifying & cute critters. They add a bit of variety to those tree stages, and I like their adorable snarls. They don't detract from the ambiance of Wraeclast at all IMO, seems like everything there adapted to become lethal. Though I do tend to get worked up when a giant rare bear is chasing my exile, and I can't help but laugh.

Wraeclast being based on Australia is now 100% true in my mind, whether the devs thought of it like that or not.
