PoE reddit hits a new low

Well, at least we can all agree GGG got the FoV half right, even if we don't agree on which half.

Does that qualify as half-assed?

Sure, why not.
So why worry about the 'profound effects' of a half-assed implementation? Obviously GGG isn't that concerned.

Im sure there are plenty of things you could say GGG isn't concered about but probably are.

I have said everything I intended to say about this.. and this:

Been like this for what, 3 years? Lol. You believe what you need to to keep disillusionment at bay.

Sigh.

Assume whatever you like about whatever you like.
The game was designed with this specific field of view in mind just like every other arpg has its own specific field of view.

Its not something that can just be changed and is as important to how the game is played as skill gems are.

Its just the way it is.

So how come someone with a 1024x800 can see less of the game than someone with a 1600x1200 or 1900*1024 ?

It's fixed until you buy a bigger screen ?

Zoom Out should give you the same FoV as the biggest available resolution on the market or strictly fixed to one resolution (with the risk of limiting the player base)
Hope I can use nVidia's new Super-HD settings to fool the game into thinking I'm playing on a 4k screen with my 1080p. Didn't realize that it ever scaled on that axis. Good info in this thread.

Get a screen that goes all the way around in your room, then you can see the entire map at once. ;)

Have every intention to, in the form of the consumer Oculus Rift. Just isn't there yet :(

Honestly, I never understood this big thing behind "We play just like D2, just like good'ol'dayz!".
It does have something to do with gameplay, that is true. However the effect on gameplay is weird, to say the least.
It has been said that the limited view range makes you come closer, so you can't snipe from the end of the map. This is a valid point, and I totally agree with it (even tho you could simply reduce range of stuff... projectile speed tho. So I won't argue here).

But one thing is always annoys me beyond an recognition. You always have to go up. As a ranged character (or melee, which uses active defenses), going down is just not reasonable. You can't see shit.
And again, I agree with range thing - it is justified, and it does what it should. But inability to turn that damn thing around makes it frustrating and inconsistent. And it doesn't make any justified gameplay sense.
I'm fully aware that models and locations are made with one view angle in mind. But this is only an excuse for not making it "full 3d".

And don't say that "it is just the way it is" - if everyone would assume that by default, nothing would ever change. :)
Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.
