Announcing Path of Exile Russia - HOW?
GGG,
Just noticed the thread in news line. Visited the site... and ohuel. Templar was translated as Priest (Жрец) Marauder was translated as Savage (Дикарь) Duelist was translated sa Gladiator (Гладиатор) Ranger was translated as Huntress (Охотница) Shadow was translated as Bandit (Бандит) And only Witch was translated as... a Witch Ok, moving further. The picture of Lightning Coil with colored stones. Its says "Stones of virtues". This phrase have no sence in Russian. What nahuy Добродетели? And the last picture... i laughed out loud. The Great Tree. Nothing wrong you might say? But without word "Skill" in Russian it looks like we are talking about fucking plant. A tree that grow, and it grew huge. Did you hire people who actually used Google Tranlstor and asked a money for this? WTF? |

Translations arent always perfect, i think the chars names are kinda different from most games and better in some way. Unless voice acting is going to suck you got nothing to worry about. Besides, why did you translate it back to english? You should read in in russian and understand it in russian. And yes, theres a difference between reading/understanding and translating it into another language and reading/understanding something that way.

There are words in Russian that make much more sense in context. This really feels like someone just used Google Translate.

I guess that's the difference between Garena Asia and Garena Russia.

" I am understatnding them in Russian, because thats my native. And that is why i saw a problem - on the advertising page for Russian speaking community there are few piles of shit that are FUCKING OBVIOUS if your native language is Russian. Its like a spit in the face. There are words in our language to fit perfect. I 've translated them back into english to demonstrate what's going on. It could be tolorated if the point was not twisted. But its not just twisted, its devastated. For example Bandit is not reflecting charater's archetype. Shadow is more like assassin, bounty hunter, that a rubber from the big road. But used word Бандит means exacly this - a criminal, offender. And the phrase "Stones of virtues"? That is exacly what is written there in Russian. It makes no sence nor in Russian, nor in English. What the fuck is it about? What Virtues? How this word is even connected with skill gems in PoE? Well, GGG, i'm asking you to comment, how this could happen? "That will go for that lowlifes" - thats exacly how it looks like. I mean, come on. isn't there a single person that actually knows Russian? Like, serious? You want to represent your product to a specific audience, and you letting it go with this pathetic amauter Google Translete quality? Последняя редакция: maxkardinal#4987. The "Stone of Virtues" thing is probably because the skill gems are "Virtue Gems" in fluff.

Oh boy, i've just red the Q&A section...
You actually did find people, who know Russian... But the tragedy is that they think to know better how its best for community to expirience the atmosphere of the game. And they comuflage tounge-tied as a feature. Pity that you will never actually see the damage. |
