What I'm wondering about is why Russians need a Russian copy of the game? Don't they learn it at school?

You could say that about anyone from a country where english is not the first language...
So why do they?

Because people from Denmark and people from Sweden do not even understand each other and they live literally next to each other. So how to you expect humans from different parts of the globe to communicate? You need a Common Tongue and that my friend what English language is.

But why would i chose English over my native language if i do not even like it?

To be fair, not everyone has equal facility (or inclination) to learn a second language, even one as versatile and ubiquitous as English. The problem, in this case, appears to be that Garena decided that "close is good enough," and that Russian speakers would tolerate a half-assed translation job in order to play PoE. Would any of us play an uncomfortably poor English translation, had PoE been developed in Russia?

Perhaps, but it would not be perceived as nearly so polished, and it's pretty unlikely any of us would be learning Russian, just to play it. ='[.]'=

I was searching through your hostile posts for the alternate words you mention that fit perfectly because they may have added something constructive for GGG to work with if they chose to.

I didn't find any. :(

Perhaps you could also further enlighten us by translating some of the passages found in the following threads?

Translation Preview (FR, DE, PT)
Translation Preview 2 (FR, DE, PT)

With Russian being your native language, as you say, it should only take a moment of your time and could lead to a significant improvement on your and other Russian speakers' upcoming experience.

Perhaps GGG could [snip]

So, that's a 'No', then.

What you are asking of him is to do a job (for free) others have been hired to do (for money).[snip]

No. I'm asking for a constructive post with a few examples to back up the claims of a hostile poster who purports to be a native Russian speaking professional writer. And I'm sure you are well aware how far apart what we both surely know I'm asking for is from what you said I'm asking for.
Sorry, this post smacks of I WANT TO BE OFFENDED!!!!1!

Does it really matter that much if the translation isn't perfect? Ya really playin this game to read?

Why not post actual suggestions for better translations instead of just bitching?
What good will it do? Nevertheless...

The "Stone of Virtues" thing is probably because the skill gems are "Virtue Gems" in fluff.

What does word 'virtue' means in the context of PoE?

As I recall, one of the NPCs (a Master, if I recall correctly) stated that skill gems "allow mortals access to virtues otherwise reserved to the gods," or something like that. in other words, the virtue of using supernatural powers.

I have a strong suspicion GGG left the translations to Garena, and that is why they turned out however poorly they did. Unfortunate. ='[.]'=
In this context more appropriate word would be "сила" ("power"/"force"), not "добродетель" (this is direct translation of "virtue" but it is more like "merit"/"goodness"/"good deed", and nowhere near "power")
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

Why do americans always need their own version of a foreign movie instead of reading subtitles or learning that language? You tell me.

Subtitles ruin a movie, doesnt matter what language you speak.

I disagree completely and will take subtitles in place of voice overs any day. Voice overs give an awful feeling of desync throughout a movie and tend not to accurately convey the actors' performances. Subtitles don't take a lot of processing power once you get accustomed to them.

I can't see how subtitles take away from Secret, for example, in any way.. but to each their own (and this is getting off topic).
And again the thread is derailed from an actual problem.

Good enough is not good.
