You act like the game is somehow on the decline. It isn't.

A game like this should be growing and should have been growing for years at a faster rate.

If it's declining or not, we don't have the numbers.

It's like GGG had a rocket, but instead of aiming for the moon, they put some wheels on it and use it to travel faster on the highway so they can sleep a bit more before going to the office.

Be prepared to lose a little more players now that Diablo remastered is coming out.

Rockets sometimes explode. Kek. Slow but stable growth is sometimes better than explosion of popularity, only to then nose-dive into oblivion. GGG is aware of that, and given peoples livelihood is on the line, they are trying to keep it safe.

Also, at some point the market will be saturated anyways. Given what kind of game PoE is, it might be that they have already reached saturation, which means investing even more and hoping for more profit can end with a failure.
Don't believe me? Look at new Tomb Raider's story - it sold in enormous amount, yet they have invested so much into making (and marketing) it, that it still was not very good from financial standpoint. How long it took for it to be -70% on Steam? 2 months?
They aimed for the Moon, but ended up fizzling and emergency-landed on Earth.
