1. Yes I've come to the conclusion that I'll need to buy the higher tier maps.
(That sucks to be forced to do this in the challenge league.)

You really don't, I never bought a map in my entire PoE lifetime, if you do need to buy maps that means you aren't aiming for casual player goals anymore.

But I have all T1 through T3 maps completed and the few T4 I've completed (save 1) are all from buying them. Of course if I grind enough T3 maps eventually I'll get a T4 to drop but that is just more bs RNG drop gating that we all hate. The whole point of Atlas is to be focusing the map drops on the next tier up so we can sequentially progress up to T15 Guardians, not throw more RNG crap gating in our face to make us grind more maps than before Atlas of Worlds to get the next level up map to drop. That doesn't help the time limited players at all (yes, I do believe that GGG has forsaken this segment of their player base).

The goal of Atlas isn't to change the way we would normally advance through maps, it's there to prevent us from just buying ten Gorges and going from there. If you want good map returns you need to unlock as much as you can.

Unfortunately, there's a small problem with that currently. At low tiers you can advance with or without the bonus and high tier drops are better than before because you will have a good bonus at that point but the upper half of yellow tier is when you hit the bump on the road because your bonus is still too low to compensate for the lower drops. That's something they could certainly work on, I suppose it can be tweaked easily.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Gotta love some people, complain about red map drop rate whilst not having reached yellow maps. Complain about xp nerfs at level 95+ when not even having reached level 80

You aren't forced to do that, but it's a viable option. Do you play essence softcore? I throw a stashtab of maps at you, so you might get some fun out of that league.
Wow, this thread has gone all over the place.

The fact is, PoE was never all that big a deal on Garena. I know, because I played it there. It was a ghost town two and a half years ago. GGG hadn't lost their way to have caused that; it was a reflection of Garena's player base.

Let's just see when those few, remaining, dedicated PoE Garena players migrate over after the 14th, and ASK them what they think of all this. =9[.]9=

If you don;t like how maps are handled... stop playing. When GGG sees enough people post and stop playing, they will revisit their rewards system.

They only benefit if people continue to play and support... and current players can result in new players who buy stash tabs.

I did notice how maps drop... and it's kind of pitiful. But then again I don't care to play more than a month before i get bored of it anyway.

I have continued to play on and off this year and last mtx was back in Perandus League. I posted and praised GGG for this and then next I hear is Chris on a PoE podcast saying that Cadiro will not be moving to permanent leagues. I do understand that Cadiro Perandus was the Santa Claus of Wraeclast and that his generous wares were too good to keep him in permanently. But GGG has acknowledged that Perandus League was the most popular at that time (don't know if Essence + Atlas is beating it) precisely because anyone, both elite and non-elites had an equal shot at getting some great gear. I picked up some great weapons and armor to fuel my Standard League playing over the summer of some shelved builds because they now became endgame viable with the great gear I got from Cadiro.

Today this is exactly why I'm so vocal in the forums. Cadiro Perandus made it so anyone had a shot at some great gear. It wasn't just for the uber Atziri, uber Izaro, or now The Shaper farmers. The availability of endgame gear was there for all. It was just a matter of farming zones long enough to earn coin and encounter Cadiro. Perandus mobs were never uber so anyone with a decent yellow map build could kill them and get the coins. This wasn't an "elites only" feature". Since then and now the best gear is only available to those that can farm uber bosses who have the top builds which are the elites. There isn't any other way the 95%+ non-elites can have a shot at some great drops except for "once in a blue moon". I do understand that those who put in the most time to get to the top should be rewarded with better gear than those that don't but the scale of the poor (time limited) verses rich (time unlimited) player schism is wider now and only growing thus more and more players are quitting and realm closures are the result of insufficient mtx purchases.

The never say die players can try to put a positive spin on this all they want but if PoE was super popular and thriving in SE Asia then I don't think that Garena would be shutting it down.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

It's like this: they say I'm a fairly decent cook, I've had a good amount of practice, know a few thing about ingredients but I can't expect results that a professional achieves even if you give us perfectly level playing field, he just spent way more time and effort than me. I might make something very good now and then, that's what luck is for, however, for somebody on eggs and french fries level that would be a miracle, not luck.

Perandus just had way too many miracles happening, and when a miracle happens too often it isn't a miracle anymore.

lol, the only people who wanted exp nerfs were the 'reroll every character at 80' neckbeards on reddit. don't blame the top 1% of players for that, GGG was catering to casuals so they don't feel bad or something,

Really? From what I've seen GGG is spending all their time talking to top elites and coding to try and keep ahead of these top players ability to create builds that face roll the hardest content. GGG doesn't have any extra staff to cater to casuals. Chris even said so in the Lioneye's podcast #6 that they were surprised at the magnitude of builds players have created and how fast the mobs are being killed. The computational load on the servers is overloading them. Thus GGG either has to slow everything down or reduce the number of game sessions per server and that means more servers to handle the same quantity of players at any given time (which is expensive). GGG is focused on the top end with elites outpacing their ability to create challenging content. They certainly don't have time to deliberately nerf xp for 90+ builds just to make the super casuals feel better that they stop at level 80. GGG nerfed xp to slow and/or halt elite racers from level 100 in 2 weeks. Nice deflection try but no cigar.
