Why not have the 'no crit' and 'always crit' cancel out, temporarily reenabling crits?
There is no reason why one has to override the other.

Yes there is a reason why one overrides the other. 0 times anything is 0. Never trumps always.

Not when the 'anything' is infinity, such as the contrived case here.
Nor was that actually a reason, since you could rewrite your reason as 'Always times anything is Always'.

Either way, there is nothing stopping GGG from altering the wording or the mechanics in any way they like. People writing code trumps semantics.

It's not semantics, it's logic. If you always do something, you always do. 50 times, 8 times, 4 times, 0 times. Notice that last one?

I noticed the use of bold text. Not sure what the relevance is. But I expect it is flawless logic for dealing with someone who suggests a compromise as people are turning a molehill into a mountain.

Looking at the wording carefully, a possible "logical" consequence of RT and a Diamond Shrine is actually that your character never hits (though how that works when your attacks can't be evaded...). Since all hits must be Critical Strikes and you aren't allowed Critical Strikes, therefore you aren't allowed strikes. Logical and completely garbage mechanically.

As far as logic is concerned, the wordings for RT and Diamonds Shrines are incompatible. I'm pretty sure that saying something trumps something else is not part of logic. I've certainly never seen A implies B, but C trumps B. Its always A implies B except in the case of C; which is not how the wording of the effects goes.
