Soul Taker needs a nerf

My suggestion on a nerf:
Make the "attacks cant fail" only apply to gems that are in the axe itself! It would still be a silly good dps axe. And you would get a 3-link support skill that costs no mana to use.

Another quick fix:
Reserve 30% mana. One less aura is a balanced nerf imho.

And even if that would be true, just because there is no axe's that dwarfs Soul Taker yet, there will be.

So the argument is that because nobody are trying to craft weapons or it's too hard to find/craft super high dps ones this item is OP?

Playing on anarchy I know I rather have 2 x the 511dps 1h sword that's on there as a cleaver and get mana leech on item(s), if I could afford it.

In the proper context, it would be more like simulating a 5L item, not just replacing Blood Magic support but Life Leech support as well. Maybe it would be a good idea to make it any non-Aura skill (not necessarily Melee) such that non-damaging skills (Life Leech impossible) would also be fair game.

The real problem, if you ask me, isn't that Soul Taker does high DPS; other axes do more DPS, even if they're hard to find. It's that Soul Taker pretty much obsolesces Blood Magic, especially the keystone. Before, if you wanted to have zero mana dependence, you went that route; now, you might go that way prior to Soul Taker, but there's zero incentive to stick with the Blood Magic keystone for the long haul, when you could eat up your mana with percent auras instead. It actually is a very Lioneye's Glare type of situation; Soul Taker has all of the benefit, and none of the drawback.

I don't get the massive outcry here.


You can basically play this game offline. Turn the chats off, don't group, suddenly you're not bothered by this stuff.
It is a little annoying that everyone wants this weapon. I have higher phys dps swords, but I run a blood magic gem, which could be swapped for something else if I had this axe, netting a bit more dps, and overall actually changing a few things with how I use skills. I don't really advocate nerfing it although I was a bit surprised when I saw it, but we have had other unique weapons that were the hot topic for quite a while. Would be nice to get some other useful uniques in other weapon varieties though.
