An elegant way to balance Cast When Damage Taken
" Out of curiosity, because you always seem to just yell at people and call them fanboys when someone disagree's with you, do you consider my suggestion to be a nerf? And if so, why, when it is a buff to using this for dps, and just a change that makes it worthwhile to level for non dps spells? |

I honestly can't understand why this Gem needs to be nerfed.
There are obvious trade-offs to using this gem: Pros: 1) Offers more flexibility in survival and defensive options (ie not having to stop DPSing to cast EC) 2) No mana cost Cons: 1) Have to be damaged 2) Offensive options via CwDT have reduced damage 3) Trigger chance isn't 100% 4) Takes up a socket It's literally available to everyone. Why does it need to be nerfed? It's not like Kaoms, a drop-only unique selling for like 700 exalts. It's a quest reward gem. If you're reading this, I'm probably on another year-long ban.

" 1) Show me a build that totally avoids getting damaged. Also, it's not like you have to facetank Vaal if you want that it triggers. 2) Maybe offensive use isn't as degenerated as defensive use is. However, I'd be surprised if it wasn't a significant boost given that it is essentially free. 3) Actually, it is 100%. 4) Only a problem if you desperately need every single socket. I don't thing that's true for many builds. |

" Do you read the posts discussing this before you invent accusations about nerfs? Please explain to me how a gem that is better at level 1 for 90% of the usage, which is encouraging people to leave it at level 1 based on its mechanics, is good for the game when we in general want to level UP gems not keep them as low level as possible |

Please name every gem that is BETTER at level 1 than level 20. You can easily list some gems people don't max the level of, please list them here. Those are gems such as cleave, power siphon, which as they level has amana cost increase. Primarily these aren't levelled because of the mana cost increase, a resource cost. If there is no problem with the resources and you could handle the higher mana cost you would level it higher, but its not that its BETTER at level 5/6, its that it is BETTER MANA EFFICIENCY. This is the same with Clarity, one of the other commonly not maxed. You still level it because it gets BETTER, but you don't max it unless you can handle the cost There is no gem people WANT at level 1, to never level, to leave at that point as the most efficient point (damage efficiency is level 2). Even if using it for dps, it is better to leave it at level 2, where you get the most damage because the amount it is casted decreases. There is NO gem that is better at level 1 than level 20. And this shouldn't be a thing. We want people to level gems, we don't want the super character to have level 1 FP with level 1 faster casting, level 1 GMP. Am I the only one that see's the glaring inconsistency with a gem that we are encouraged not to level? |

" Ok, someone seems to be missing the point here. CwDT is better at lvl 1 for limited uses. Pretty much only 1 real reason to use it: Enduring Cry. Leveling CwDT lets you better limit the threshold at which the linked skill activates. Like I said, it's for limited uses, not a one-size-fits-all fix. You're right, there are no gems people want to keep at lvl 1. They typically level them until the benefit of leveling is outweighed by the drawbacks of leveling. Kinda like why a lot of builds in the past never leveled Lightning Strike beyond a specific point. Kinda like why a good amount of people never level Clarity past the first few levels and end up ditching it altogether when the aura loses its effectiveness. People that say CWDT has no cost are absolutely stupid.
Not being able to trigger Endurance Charges/Immortal Call/Curses/etc. when you want them to trigger is a massive deal. |

You say it has limited uses at level 1.
yet you offer no reason that someone would level it above this beyond immortal call, or people doing it for damage (who are doing it wrong cause best dps is level 2). The reason for those other skills only being levelled a certain amount is resource management. I said that in my post if you read it. The reason for CWDT is not resource management, but there being no benefit from levelling it, as you cast LESS often |
