An elegant way to balance Cast When Damage Taken
" Well, endurance charges and curses don't matter since you have permanent uptime when using CWDT. If you get killed before CWDT casts them either your build/items (probably both) are bad or you are engaging mobs that you can't handle anyways. And if you really need to control when you cast Immortal Call nothing stops you from using it normally (i.e. not linking it to CWDT). This seems like a really far-fetched argument. |

Okay, so you feel that molten shell, which most people aren't using for the DPS but for the armour on CWDT, is something worth elvelling it for.
I eat my words There are two skills that are better suited to levelling it. However both of these skills are STILL not suited to it being level 20 Name me once skill thats best used at level 20? If you name any DPS spell I will simply counter with 'casting more often, with more damage/damage taken is better' and it will be levl 2 that is the best. You are very good at strawmanning I notice, rather than using intelligence and discussing a gem that is not worth levelling at all for the MAJORITY of uses (2 uses is not a majority btw), you just make one small statement and ignore all reasoning discussing it in any other way. I'm just adding my opinion in this thread.
First of all, I may agree that that this gem gives out free cast, but in reality taking damage to life/ES is the cost of using the gem + a gem slot. |

What I find most illuminating about the responses to this thread is how many of the posters who object to any proposed balancing changes have resorted to degrading their own vocabulary. I remember when retorts like "nerf", "crybaby", and "whine" were reserved for posts full of rage-quit emotional venting. At this point they've degenerated into playground insults with no coherent meaning left at all. It's just a smokescreen that does little to obscure your main objection: the outrage that you should have to pay any cost whatsoever for a completely automated spambot "skill" that has no drawbacks at all.

" If you have high % crit chance, you want to have high enough level so that the damage done is above the threshold for status ailment; which in many cases means that you want your CwDT to be far higher than lv2. |

This is a major nerf to Kaom's and Bringer of Rain too. Yet another reason for why it needs to be kept as efficient as it currently is. It makes all your gem slots very valuable, since there are more useful skills that you can link to your CwDT than you actually have slots available.
