Thoughts on bits of lore, story and characters

- Timeline of Wraeclast: Atziri of the Vaal, then Eternal Emperors until Chitus was overthrown by Voll and the Karui, five years later, Gemling Queen somehow doesn't stop the Cataclysm. Then nothing much.

- Ranger might be a lesbian. Quip after beating Merveil "It was your love for a man that did this to you, Merveil." Quip after beating Alira "I hate to pluck a pretty flower, even a poisonous one such as you."

- Cannibals on coast are remnants of the Karui.

- Still no clue who Dominus is. High Templar Voll become Emperor of Wraeclast, and Dominus is a High Templar of something or other. I guess it's like a global Church and High Templars like to be Emperor no matter where they are. You'd think Oriath would call it's ruler something else.

- Koam is still alive, in some form or another. He descended into a dungeon and then Hyrri grabbed his people and ran off. You know the rules: Unless you've seen a body, shit is still on. Even money he will be an act boss at some point.

- Malachai, same deal.

- Hargan extorted sex from Clarissa. At least the line "You can be sure he gets his pound of flesh" and the VA delivery of it sounded that way to me.

- I definitely think Dominus and Piety need more development as characters. Piety you're basically killing just because she's mean, and Dominus because he's there. We know nothing of their motivations. The most we know is that Piety likes making monsters and has a rather cavalier attitude towards germs. Maybe our characters have more reason to kill those bosses (like Templar wants his truth or whatever) but the players don't have much reason to care one way or another about them.

- Nessa is a jerk.

Feel free to add your own.

You know as much as I've played for hours and hours every day I honestly did not pay attention to the story so let me recap this and you can correct me 7

1) Douchebag ahem Dominus exiles you for some crime

2) You end up in island doing survivability shit helping people

3) The ''Blackguard'' find a prototype ''zombie'' like weapon aka Brutus

4) Piety blocks you

5) Only way out is through crazy tentacle bitch aka Merveil

6) End up in another town yada yada

7) Kill some retarded looking scorpion thing that actually hurts and rescue some girl

8) Piety escapes

9) Poison a tree go in a ruins...push a ball I don't know why you couldn't just hop over it

10) Darkness is spread and apparently will devour the land eventually

11) Turn on the altar - Darkness turns into a fucking thing and you kill it

12) End up in ''Sarn'' apparently a very old empire of some sort

13) Save Clarisa while Piety's blackguards capture a bunch of people including Tolman

14) Grigor is an experiment of another prototype ''zombie'' thing and sends you to find some dead queen thing

15) You find blackguards attacking fucking ribbons really ribbons / at war with RIBBONS

16) Dead queen is apparently alive whos Lady diala looking all fucked up but regardless alive

17) Get the materials to burn through some sick looking gooey shit

18) Get through the sewers into the barracks and kill general

19) Enter Lunaris once you enter level 2 apparently the blackguards / pietry are now making successful zombie things

20) Enter 3 and you seem to be in hell where you see apparently a billion corpses all piled up everywhere twisting and turning to be ready to be.... um zombie things

21) Kill the bitch get the key

22) Go to this tower where apparently Dominus has those corpses one by one go all the away into that shitty tower and continue to turn into zombies

23) Engage him with a bunch of personal guard and more zombies

24) He turns into a Giant fucking turkey thing and you kill it

25) There the game is ended

Is this correct? Lols

I think the deal is that Dominus discovered something and decided to focus all his attention on Wraeclast to unlock & control it, also he found Piety interesting enough to share his motivations with her and giving her a high status within the blackguards.

I'll add mine, and it'll be no surprise to anyone who's read my posts on the matter:

Wraeclast and Oriath should thank their lucky stars that Dominus recruited a half-wit dabbler like Vinia and not the true genius psychopath that is the Scion.

It's hard to think of Dominus as even vaguely smart to know he had dinner with her and didn't recognise her lack of morality, her selfishness, her brilliance, her ambition and her borderline dissociative behaviour. You think Piety's bad? The Scion would have been a true scourge of Wraeclast, laughing and crying inappropriately as she treated the place like her own personal theme park...

Which she already does, just without Dominus' consent and support, which obviously makes all the difference. Dominus is a monumental doofus for not watching the Exile more closely anyway, but with the Scion he really, really screwed up in not just executing her IF he couldn't recruit her. Bigtime.

I got the feeling that she's some kind of avatar/key to unlock some lovecraftian horror.
2 reasons for that, first of all most of her comments hint that she has some link with Wraeclast's past; second, Dominus telling us that the world is an illusion before popping into some kind of giant insect, makes me think the Scion is somehow linked with that other "dimension".

It makes me thinks a lot of the movie "In the Mouth of Madness" (can be seen on youtube), well, at least that's where my reasoning comes from.

Well I have no idea what happened in your guild talks, but having a bit, I repeat, a bit, of lovecraftian vibe in POE doesn't hurt the game's lore.

Brutus invited Shavronne, a necromancer(?), to his prison. She changed brutus to what he is now.

"
He began to invite practitioners of dark, fel arts to The Prison to experiment on his captives, and eventually, in a desperate bid to extend his own waning life, he allowed them to experiment on him

"
As the Necromancers crowded around to witness the results of their twisted endeavor, Brutus burst free from his bonds and descended on them with savagery.

What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?

the comparison is not entirely out of place Yoomazir, mostly for the second reason you give and what counts as a predecessor to those creative elements. I personally find the effect the Vaal Oversoul has on the 'world' and what that is taken to portend (an axiomatic shift, again, of sorts) to be a reasonably sufficient association. However, I have my own reservations about the lore as a whole at this stage, which is kind of disparate, if not in overall cohesion then in tone and form. Actually I should watch one of the latest videos that hints at discussing some of these points before commenting any further.
