I respected those two 15% less Crit dmg and I see no diference...

Thanks for the input skarbziemi, that is good news: i can save one more point by dropping those :)

@BaldMan:
Actually i played a map with Vulnerability after respecing US and didn't noticed an issue, but is was only one map and only a lvl73 one... (http://i.imgur.com/PGzCXZ6.jpg)

@pelll:
Well cold can Chill (enemies move/attack more slowly) and Freeze if the dmg is high enough.

The main difference i see between using these two attacks (besides any difference in DPS) is how you will deal with Reflect maps: You can have all-phys and "worry" only about PhysReflect maps, or do half Phys and half Cold dmg and have more issues on EleReflect maps maybe.
I say "maybe" because if you split your dmg into phys/ele then you might be better of in both reflect mods, since you will have to deal with only half you dmg be reflected in any Reflect mod:
20K phys could hurt in PhysReflect maps
10K phys + 10K cold would hurt 50% less because only 10K will be reflected ;)

Idk, i don't have much experience with that, maybe you could make some tests and post your findings :)

@tjm:
Well since you will start to play maps at around lvl70, i would suggest you plan to have taken the life nodes in the Scion circle by then. There is no substitute for life ;)

And take a couple of the more efficient dmg nodes (Skull Cracking, Baptism by Light, Berserking) in the process, you will have enough points by that time.

In conclusion, just don't leave life for last :)

@blahism:
Tbh most people have a problem with Dischargers or Summoners, i can remember only 2 cases ever of people that had a problem with the Knockback of my HS...
Still it seems that Cyclone is making a comeback in Melee, so idk.

About flasks, the usual i guess: at least 2 HP, 1 Granite and 1 Quicksilver.
Mods depend of what you like/need (like anti-Freeze/Shock/Bleed and so on).
Personally i use these:

Ofc i am in Standard, plus now we have those Sanctified flasks too.

-------------
More on my "final" build if anyone cares lol:

Dropping IR seems more and more like the thing to do, i get an estimated 6.2K HP with current gear from the build below (now at 5.3K), that sounds nice :)

Next time i play i will respec just the IR node (and maybe the two Crit nodes too) and play for a couple of days like that, see how it feels.

Is anyone running this with Infernal Blast instead of Heavy Strike? i've been told a lot of people are kicked out of groups rolling with HS. (level 62 currently..)

Also, what flasks do people like to run with at 60+ in Merc act 3?

I haven't been kicked out of any groups. Why would the use of HS cause someone to get mad and kick a party member?

Hey guys, posting news of my char here. So I'm currently lvl 72, this is my gear:

Here's my future skill tree:

I'll add some points with your advices ;)

I'm taking any good advices on improving my gear/skills, I know that I have to change the boots, gloves and chest for better life rolls, then i'll get some good rings, I think i'm keeping my helmet which is pretty sweet.

Thank you guys
I began my character on last Thursday. I'm now level 64.

I bought a few things with some chaos, especially a multistrike gem and Geofri's mace.

I have save few chaos in order to buy end game stuff.

My levelling was very esay, 'cause I already have Multistrike and I bought a good Carnage Heart. This item really change many things with this build.

I bought yesterday a Carcass Jack. It's an interesting object but I lose a lot in defence with it. I must almost play like a ranged char.

Here is my tree (I don't know how to link objects):

I have taken the endu charge from Oak, so I have 6.

I'm taking some life nodes form the scion area, then Skull cracking. the dex node is necessary to wear Carcass Jack.

I think I will not try to get the Marohi mace, because I prefer attack speed. But with this weapon, the build can be more defensive, 'cause you can wear an astral Plate.

I have 2 4L for attacks:
GS + Multistrike + Melee physical + Add fire
HS + Endu on melee stun + Melee physical + Add fire

I have two totems: A skeleton one and a Shockwave to push back waves of mobs if I need.
I play with enduring cry manually and Warlock's mark as curse.

I plan to get a CwDT gem with a decoy totem, enfeeble and Molten shell. Should I level this gem or not?

If you have some suggests, I'll be pleased.

@Garbapp In order to link an item you must do the following.

1. Click on the switch character tab to go to the character select portion.

2. Then select the character that has the gear that you want to link.

3. Left click once on the gear that you want to link. You will have to left click once for each piece of gear on the character that you have chosen. Please see example below of my gear on my level 19 summoner witch. I decided not to use my marauder because he is too low of a level. Also I chose my witch because I just wanted to show you how it is done.

4. After you have left clicked once on each piece of gear on your character then you click on the x button at the top of the screen to close that window and you will see your gear as text. But if you hit preview then you would see your gear as pictures like everyone else. As you can see my current gear on my level 19 summoner witch below.

Switch your tree to this. I've removed useless/weak points and added strong ones (Life leech and path of the warrior). For your next 6 levels work on finishing the big circle of Life points going from the bottom in order to get the 12% quicker. After that work your way in the Duelist area towards Master of the Arena, Acceleration and Leather and Steel. Also when you feel comfortable with your survivability get the 3 attack speed points (Berserking).

As for your gear, it severely lacks Life. Get Gear that has both Life and elemental Resistances. Don't pay too much attention in other stats like Armor, rarity etc. for now. Also try to get mov speed on your boots, it helps you to progress faster.

Gems and links are your biggest problem. You seem to have not grasped how they work exactly. Choose 1 single target skill (you got 2 now Heavy Strike and Glacial Hammer) and 1 aoe skill (you got 2 now Ground Slam and Sweep. This guide is about the first ones (HS & GS) and put those in your biggest links. Your current gear has 1 4Link and 1 3Link. In the 4L put GS with melee physical+Faster Attacks+Added Fire Damage or Life Leech or Multi Strike (need to buy this one for a few chaos). In the 3L put HS with Melee Physical+Added Fire Damage or Life Leech or Multi Strike. The only core other gems you need are Enduring Cry which gives you endurance charges that make you tankier and Leap Slam that helps you position yourself better or escape by leaping. You also need to use a curse. Popular options are Enfeeble and Warlords Mark. CwdT gem is a way to use Enduring Cry and Enfeeble automatically whenever you take damage. CwdT will also cost a few chaos but be careful to understand it's level requirement mechanics. If it's confusing to you buy it at level 1 and don't level it up. Then link with it Enduring Cry and Enfeeble both of which shouldn't be higher than level 5.

Work on all these things, if you still having problems, grind 2-3 levels in areas you can farm safely and then try to progress. If you still having problems give us an update on your situation with you level, tree and items again.

Hi,

I have rearranged my gems as you suggested and life seems to be a little easier now. I have made a few levels since my post and your response a few days ago. But my question now is why go towards the Duelist area for those three nodes you mention and not go north from Resolute Technique to get the damage nodes ending with the extra endurance charge? The endurance charges seem to help a lot, as I have noticed since I started using Enduring Cry.

Current build:

Good to hear.

Forget about the duelist area for now and keep moving north towards Athleticism, +1 End Charge and Faith and Steel. Also pick up the extra +1 End Charge that is ready to be taken straight left of the Marauder starting point. Imo prioritize in getting a level 1 cast when damage taken gem to link with Enduring, Enfeeble and Molten Shell so those skills are cast automatically. Also try to replace the Life on Hit gems with Leech.

Hello everyone im new to poe just started today. This seemed like a good build for me to start out with but I was just wondering if the info is still usable and accurate to follow since the new patches. If not if someone could point me towards some up to date beginner builds for either marauder or ranger that would be great. Thanks for the help.
The Info is still good to go. ;)
